ConocoPhillips Canada to layoff up to 300 staff this week due to low commodity prices, lack of market access, increased regs and taxes
September 11, 20169:06 PM BOE Report Staff1 Comment
ConocoPhillips Canada says it plans to lay off 250 to 300 employees this week, with the majority of cuts coming from its Calgary head office.
Company spokesman Rob Evans said the cuts are part of a global staff realignment to match future activity levels, with Canada looking less attractive than some of its other operations.
“Low commodity prices, combined with our inability to get product to new markets, has resulted in lower prices in Canada relative to other parts of the world,” Evans said in an email.
“Coupled with increased local cost pressures such as corporate taxes, regulatory compliance costs and property taxes, staying competitive in a global portfolio is a challenge for some parts of our Canadian business.”
In February, ConocoPhillips cut its dividend and capital spending after reporting its biggest quarterly loss in almost a decade.
The company’s quarterly dividend was reduced to 25 cents a share from 74 cents previously. The company also lowered capital expenditures guidance to $6.4 billion from $7.7 billion and operating costs guidance to $7 billion from $7.7 billion.

So I read an article today about Mr. Harpers post political career that included this (direct quote from the article in the cal herald) :
“Mr. Harper will provide advice to clients on market access, managing global geopolitical and economic risk, and how to maximize value in global markets,” Dentons said in the release.
“This is outstanding news for Dentons and for our clients,” said Elliott Portnoy, Dentons’ chief executive, in the release. “Mr. Harper’s experience as a G7 leader will provide invaluable perspective for our clients and our team.”
Now upon reading this my immediate thought was, "gee, wonder what little 2.0's post political employer will say about him?" Safe bet he won't be running into Mr. Harper in the hallways of Dentons; well, unless he's delivering bagels or something.

And I laugh.
These idiots are getting exactly what they voted for.
Canadian Labour Congress National Young Workers' Summit out of Ottawa.
That is a bunch of young socialists out of Eastern Canada (Ottawa) that predominantly voted for Trudeau a year ago.

What I found interesting is it appears he believes he's a, "star" and all he has to do is show up, smile, pose for selfies and he'll get his way. It explains his behavior in other countries where I'm quite sure it's now universally accepted that Canada elected a dolt.
The other interesting thing is from the article it appears his youth lib supporters are upset his policies aren't ludicrous, "enough". What's a follow the popular trend to be cool child to do? The adults admonish him and now the children don't want to be his friend anymore.
Country's gone completely off the rails and the bottom of the canyons coming up fast but meanwhile we might as well make some popcorn and enjoy the show.............and I think it's going to start getting good.

Taxpayers money means nothing to them, nor does any form of reality. All that's important is their unicorn fairy tale social policies that will of course succeed only in dividing the country and destroying our heirs financial future.
While the dips continue destroying Ab the libs have almost completely destroyed Ont., it's so far in debt there simply is no way out and people will soon(before spring) be sitting in the dark freezing, or else eating, one of the two thanks to all this so called, "green energy" garbage that doesn't work but has made energy unafordable.
Meanwhile little justin is using millions of taxpayers money to fund hamas which is really paying terrorists to kill Canadians; not to mention all the other BILLIONS he's given away to foreign countries while Canada circles the bowl.
What you Won't see in the news is how much suicide rates have gone up in AB. While that should be of national concern, it just shows how much, the sewer of, "central canada" cares about Alberta and those who live here. I guess the important thing is it's fine for various perverts to be in the little girls room.
.........and in just over 4 weeks we'll have two, "carbon taxes" kicking in. Because nothing helps the economy more than compound taxes on everything required to run a business. Sunny ways.
Little justin may just be able to do more damage to the country in two yrs than his father has done, which is quite an accomplishment considering a large amount of the taxes we all pay every single day are still to pay for 1.0's failed social policies.

Good article, Walleyes.
Yup Al Gore, the clown that started the biggest scam of the century with his global warming crap.
It made him a lot of money, and now all of the liberal politicians of the world have jumped on this band wagon.
So many stupid people in this world to support this crap, don't they realize they are being scammed?
Anyone who truly understands the carbon cycle in nature knows full well that it is self regulating.
Queue some internet brainwashed idiot to jump in and call me a "denier" now.....

Good article I enjoyed the read. Pretty straight to the point and accurate.
On another note anyone notice how the NDP are patting themselves on the back with the recent pipeline approvals. I had wrote a letter to the premier with a bunch of questions and concerns about the carbon tax a while back and heard nothing back except the usual "your response has been received" type deal. In honesty I didn't expect to hear much. On the day the pipeline approvals were announced I got a reply. It came off as a form letter that anyone would get but I had to laugh as it was as if a form rebuttal had been written and then at the end they added the "this carbon tax had already resulted in pipeline approvalls." I had to laugh. It's as if they just couldn't wait to start sending out the "I told you so" emails.
So of course I replied and the short version of the letter would go like this. " I applaud the approvals but you know darn well you need the money, Trudeau needs the money, budgets dont' seem to be balancing themselves. You could send a flaming bag of poop to his doorstep everyday and those pipelines would still be approved. Meanwhile Albertans who are already struggling are being taxed on things they have no control over such as heating their homes and driving their vehicles and eating for that matter." No reply yet but I'm sure some generic response will make it's way someday.
This "climate leadership plan" will go down in history as the one of the biggest shams ever. It might take a while for the die hard left to understand but this is something that is going to hurt everyones pocket books with no measurable change. The cost of living is fast outpacing incomes and little by little we are heading down a road that has to end some way some how.

So Notley's approval rating is apparently not that bad at 31%.
http://www.630ched.com/2016/12/13/one-third-of-albertans-approve-of-premier-notleys-work/
This is after announcing and soon implementing one of the most repressive tax grabs in our history. Sad sad sad.
The right better get the message and get their crap together and unite. Hear that Jean and Kenney!
Anyone who believes the NPD isn't a threat to stay in power better wake up. That protest vote is more than that with the approval rating we are seeing. The urbanites represent a new scary power with their voting masses.
