I read a good comment in an article a couple days ago. It stated you could take all the wealth in the world and distribute it evenly amongst all peoples and in a week you would have rich people and poor people, that's just the way it is. And it's true it really is.

Of course, by the time the shinny pony and our queen are kick to the curb I'll be an old man begging for a hand out ,because they would have taken all I have by then. But the UN will come help us all, lead by... guess who. >:(

Mercedes just delivered electric vehicles to be used for US Post Service deliveries, and Tesla is introducing their semi-truck in October.

And this won't affect oil usage? The avalanche has started. It will gather steam quickly.

You know AVB, I starting trying to think of a way of getting in agreement with your EV posts.
I came up with a great idea for Elon Musk and Tesla.  I think he should partner with Harley Davidson and make electric Harleys.
At least the damn things would be quieter.  But would the dirtbag riders then mount speakers to emulate the noise so they would be safe because they claim loud pipes save lives....lol.

Yep, I don't think the last car ride I take will be electric. They'll carry this old body off in a gas job I'm sure. After that it's up to the next generation to go green, or hug a tree, or whatever the next trendy thing a ma jig is.

Oh some day electric powered vehicles will be the norm, won't be any choice.  When that day is won't be in my lifetime, that I feel pretty confident about.  Light snowfall is a pretty accurate assesment I'd say.

BIG PICTURE the wheel that is oil and gas is just to big with no reason of stopping it for a good long time.  To much money tied up and electric alternatives are a long way off in replacing oil and gas in anything resembling large scale imho.  Nice to see alternatives are being worked on for when the time comes that there is no more oil left.

It has to make sense though.  It makes me chuckle, so many buy into this ideal that they are fighting the good fight against the big bad oil guys, yet it's those big bad oil guys that will eventually push the renewables market into a profitable venture on the large scale.  People with money will invest that money when conditions are favourable so they can keep making money.  Maybe I'm over simplifying it but not by much :).

Specific to the electric vehicle I do find the torque that they can produce pretty interesting.  I'll have to try and find a video I looked at a while ago showcasing a prototype F150, built with a seperate motor at each wheel.  The torque that thing was said to have was pretty amazing.

Electric cars and light duty trucks are one thing but the world is driven still by petroleum products in everyday lives. When I see electric power in Combines, Excavators, Rock trucks etc and loaded battery powered Semi's pulling B trains zipping through the mountains at 100 km's an hour and -30, then I will believe the avalanche is here. The developed world is far from ready to give up their lifestyles for the green's save the planet mantra. Talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

Pipe dreams is all the greens have, the world runs on petroleum and will for generations. Only way we can turn the demand back is a mass extinction. And that will come from a virus or asteroid lol.

There is a shift happening no doubt and that's good, we can all do our part locally, drive better efficient cars, recycle, go solar when it's affordable and other green means but there will be a glass ceiling to what we can do. Just the continued population growth will dictate the need for oil and gas.

Just a few commercial and industrial electrical vehicles running right now. Rock truck? No problem.

I have spent three months of choking up B.C. forest fire phlegm from my lungs.

Could you please find out how much carbon has been released from those B.C. forest fires in one year in comparison to one year of emissions from Fort Mac.

I do not care what is happening in Switzerland.

I am sick an tired of hacking up B.C. induced mucous.

My comment and links were in response to Sooner, who suggested that electric haul trucks (rock trucks he called them) and other large industrial and commercial electric vehicles were not feasible. I showed that they not only are, but are being used right now. We can't be blind to what is happening in the real world beyond Alberta.

I think we should have a carbon foot print tax.  Remove tax from fule and other carbons At the time of purchess.  And have a one time a year payment for what roads and services are provided through carbon tax.

No reason why some dude in a smart car or on a peddle bike should be using the infer structure I provide at less cost.

its only fair and it's time to start taxing the more eco friendly types.

Old Trump is sure stirring that pot again lol. I totally agree with his statement on these NFL players and them disrespecting the flag and their country, (but that's just these peoples style, most are raised with little respect for the establishment and authority, the old it's someone else's fault for everything generation) But as the President he could have chosen better words than calling them SOB's. Sure got a lot of feathers ruffles with this one lol.

I see it as these players disrespecting their entire nation and to all those that fought for America to take a jab at one man, Trump.
Dumb bunch of sobs really.

Except for this guy who gets it:

A former Army Ranger, Villanueva was the only Steeler to break from the team's orders and come out of the tunnel Sunday in Chicago to stand for "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Follow the money.

Some say this is a shakedown of the NFL by the Democratic Left (alt left for some folks  ;)) using that good old "race card".  That white shame stuff has become a real industry. And very profitable.

Also, It is disgusting how the left is applauded for expressing their freedom of expression while Trump is crucified for stating his views.  Just like in Canada.

And I heard the Army Ranger's team jerseys are selling like hotcakes.

Just a bunch of folks with no idea where they are making to much money in a society that has become much to weak and privileged.

Not sure I give two hoots about what someone who plays a game for a living has decided one way or another.  Good showing by Mr. Villanueva, apparently he gets it at least.
