Walleyes

What would you think of retiring in the Tumbler Ridge area? Have you taken a look at the area?

If you want big mean water to test the new boat, there is Wiliston Lake out of Hudson Hope. You want elk? Talk to a pixxed off rancher with ripped up hay bales around Beaverlodge. And the Hudson Hope moose have a really neat looking horn. My Beaver Indian pards in Dawson Creek where I went to school call it the Beaver horn. Want Peaceabow rainbow trout?  head up to Hudson Hope around the dam and surrounging streams. Not sure what One Island Lake is like these days for the monster rainbows. Sturgeon Lake Alberta if you miss Walleye fishing.
Just seeking your opinion, and what you think the missus would say.

Good Lord I am sounding like a salesman. Sonny noticed that when the poor guy was just showing off a new shotgun and I kept harrasing him.  But a salesman I am not.

I haven't went down to Tumbler as of yet but I hear it's nice, some pretty good buys on property there. I would move to Dawson in a heart beat I really would. Great hunting, lots of work for a guy, closer to the coast for me and great people up there. Typical hard working northern folk. If only I could talk the family into it, I'd make the move. Propert around FSJ and Dawson is getting pretty pricey though, any decent acreage is in the $500 range.

Oh my god, today was really something on the political front.  Let me elaborate on what I witnessed today.
As many of you guys know, I work at NAIT and much of what I do supports training and research for Alberta's main industry, i.e. Oil and Gas.

On my way into work early this morning, I heard on the news that Ministers Sohi and Carr were to make a significant announcement at NAIT.  Usually, I hear rumors a day or two in advance of these ministerial visits, but not this time. Politicians like to use NAIT as a backdrop for their announcements as it provides a bit of a safe haven from protesters and some loose context to industry.  Our new PIC Productivity and Innovation Centre for research is the go to location lately for political announcements for industry.  Very suitable as NAIT's commitment and focus is strong for direct support to industry.

I had some work to do in PIC this morning and saw the news crews there fairly early.  No one really knew that this was going on, not even high level directors and managers of the Centre.  The security protocol was very tight and Sohi and Carr were in and out in very short order.  No doubt this was a well orchestrated plan to avoid any protests such as those that we have recently witnesses ramping up all over Alberta.  On my way out though, I saw a few yellow vest guys talking with some of the remaining media.  My first impression was that they were security detail, but they were indeed yellow jacket protesters.  I spoke briefly with one of the fellows and he was polite and respectful and reiterated their message that pipelines needed to be built, not government loan guarantees disguised as bailouts to Alberta's oil industry.

Now for my opinions and some important facts.  I will link a CTV news article because it is one of the few that actually properly defines the $1.6 B announcement for industry loans and development assistance.  CBC and Global had the bailout slant going strong to praise their beloved Liberal government.  This is far from a Bombardier style cash bailout with no repayment strings attached.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/core-problem-remains-critics-pan-federal-plan-to-help-alberta-s-oil-and-gas-sector-1.4222629

No doubt Trudeau was starting to feel the pressure as the protest voices are heating up in western Canada.  He took the easy road yet again and committed already allocated money in the Export Development Canada and Business Development Bank of Canada infrastructure funding that the Feds have had in place since Trudeau took over.  This was part of his massive debt plan to stimulate industry and Sohi and Trudeau were under lots of criticism lately as much of this debt financed money had not been committed to industrial projects.  Again, this is far from a bailout or really anything that will effectively fix the main problem, a pipeline to access foreign markets and better pricing for Dilbit and WCS crude.  Companies are not looking for loans for further debt prone ventures until some certainty exists for the marketing for their products.  Sohi and Carr only gave lip service and more platitudes for the TMX pipeline construction and refused to back down on the very damaging bill C-69, carbon taxing, and a direct refusal to help fund rail car funding as a temporary measure.

Thanks for the post Axeman.

Before reading your post I thought $1.6 billion was going into N.A.I.T. Research and Training. That would be good. Real good.

After reading this post I see the $1.6 billion is nothing more than a big bottle of "snake oil"  peddled by a couple of two bit hucksters.

How Sohi and Turdo can look into a camera and keep saying they are for our industry and are doing all they can is amazing to me. Sohi on Ched yesterday after the announcement was 10 mins of his gobble gook, typical politician speak with nothing concrete said.

It's a freaking loan offer, nothing more, nothing less. Ya, industry needs to take on more debt but they sure peddled it as much much more.

God how I wish Nutley and Turdo go away next elections. Be nice if Sohi's jump to MP ends too.

Sooner, ya, I am no fan of Sohi either.
I had the chance to speak with him once and he outright lied to me.  I called him a god damn lier to his face too.
He is a piece a crap as a man and wouldn't look me in the eye and slithered away mumbling.
That guy is brown nosing ass kisser to the 10th degree.

Good post axe. You covered most of what is felt in the industry.

We don't need your damn money Groper, keep it and shove it !! What we need is for you eastern pieces of shit to get out of our way. Take your damn policies and cram them and we will be fine. We don't need you to build us a pipeline, we will build them on our own just load up the hippies and take them to jail when they trespass on private property and block construction of an approved project, in other words do your f"n job.

And what the hell is 1.6 billion anyways thats joke when you look at our industry, shoot the company I'm with is not a big producer they are considered a medium producer. Our 2019 budget alone is $775 million so what the hell is 1.6 billion to the over all industry its Liberal lip service dick weed that's all it is.

This isn't going to calm the storm, we are going to push until we leave this broken joke of a country and are freed from you Liberal pieces of shit !!

Just a simple question to my fellow Alberta Sportsman forum members.

Do you believe people in Alberta are more upset to what is happening to them than during NEP 1?

It was simple questions like this that had me banned from the other forum.

Good question greylynx but a tough one to answer.First off I think most people here don't remember NEP 1 due to them being very young or not even born yet back then.lol But old farts like us remember. ;)

Secondly it was a different world back then.Your circle of friends/co-workers was what,50,100,150 at most?
Now we have the internet and social media so your circle of people you chat with has grown a 1000% if not more.

Anyway back then Trudeau the elder caused a lot of grief in Alberta and I think it's safe to say that most Albertans would have danced a jig if old Pierre was struck by a bolt of lightning.

So now we have Trudeau junior and IMHO this little prick is way worse than the elder. >:( Maybe it's because of the internet and we get to see all the shameful things he does all around the world. But but but..

I can't say anymore right now because my blood pressure is sky high right now and I'm praying for a bolt of lightning. >:(

I was pretty young when it hit, it didn't hit our family all that bad as my father was a logger so we were sheilded from it somewhat. But he was self employed and had a certain amount of equipment on finance and I remember the interest rates being a huge factor then. I had an uncle in the natural gas industry and I remember him having to lay off a number of people and his wage and budgets cut big time.

I know this, people in Alberta will always hate Trudeau's always,, they are sick demented people.

I remember watching an interview of the old Trudeau. When asked about the NEP and the damage it did to the west, his only response was I had to look after the whole country. The interviewer said to him but you crippled the west, he had no real reply just a BS one. It was reported in the interview that they siphoned off about 44 billion from the west to the east back then, that was about 1980 or so.
Trudeau--ISIS SUPPORTER, CONVICTED OF A CRIME (only PM in history to do so)

Bill Morneau- Finance Minister Sold thousands of shares 2 days before tax laws changed (saving him 500k) but said it was coincidence no insider trading. Conveniently forgets to report his directorship of a 10 million dollar villa in France................fined a whopping 200.00 for conflict of interest.

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan’s said that he engineered the Canadian-led NATO offensive against the Taliban during the Afghan war – the largest such operation in decades. It was proven he did not. His punishment for such an  egregious lie (stolen valour)............did he have to step down...............he had to say he was sorry that's it. He is an absolute POS.

Ralph Goodale Minister of Public Safety caught lying about domestic sourcing of guns.

The Liberals are no longer a political party they are an evil regime much like an evil regime from years past. He is becoming a dictator bent on disarming the citizens of Canada and letting murderous ISIS immigrants into our country and paying all their bills quickly to try and assimilate them into the country ASAP and giving them millions of dollars to support their cause.

Trudeau is changing election laws so that many of these immigrants will be allowed to vote with nothing more than a piece of paper with their name on it. Trudeau isn't bright enough to change his socks by himself let alone change any laws on his own, but some of his SS Ministers are. ANY THING THAT MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE REELECTION OF TRUDEAU MUST BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.
The Trudeau government donates hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign aid at the expense of Canadian taxpayers to benefit certain governments, tyrants and dictators who violate human rights, including:
• $23.27 million for Hamas and the Palestinian Authority,
• $4.87 million to Pakistan,
• $3.79 million to Libya,
• $1 million to Egypt,
• $64.52 million to Jordan,
• $13.92 million to Sudan,
• $25.86 million to Congo, and
• $60.93 million to Iraq.

Agritech, welcome to this forum, my friend.  :)  Great post above.

We are all fairly like minded here.  I can't wait to get out for the first ice fishing trip of the year.  Have the 27 and 28th planned so far.  Going into some back country lakes.

I must have been under a rock, just checked into this Ben Shapiro guy after hearing his name over and over. I like his you tube vids where he destroys the snowflakes and SJW's with reason and facts. Leaves them stuttering and pulling any card they can to try and shut him up but you can tell, they know he wins.

For those that haven't heard of Peterson here's a clip of his from The Joe Rogan Experience. Explains the left pretty clearly.

No kidding. I am amazed that CBC thinks people buy into their propaganda, or I'm naive and many people do. Now having said that my BIL from back east is a CBC'er, but he is also a clown, like the guy he voted for.
