Survey done just not sure they will be happy with some of the comments.

I have no issue protecting a species as long as it's done right. Closing all industry and activity with in 100 miles of a river that 100 years ago had the fish in it does not make sense. If this species is protected then protect it from all this includes EVERYONE. Most programs like this are huge wastes of money when ran by government agencies.

Just some of the concerned I have.

All the fisheries in Alberta need help, look at the blind walleye management scheme by the ASRD.

This species protection idea has very very little to do with habitat and lots and lots to do with genetics. Very little benefit will come from them being listed, numbers are better than they were 30 years ago in most creeks, problem is they have recently discovered hatchery genetic material in the area, that's where the issue comes from. I don't see federal involvement helping the species, the province knows the issues and simply don't know how to handle it yet. Ask for data, you will find none forthcoming aside from tid bits here and there which aim to push a certain agenda. Watch out anglers, not as simple as this one sounds!

That's exactly the type of thing I am talking about SG,, they will chase the wrong issue here and not accomplish a thing. But hey,, it will look good on paper and very polictly correct. And that's what it's all about this day and age.

I too smell a rat.

Why all the sudden interest in the Athabow?

And why is the interest suddenly coming from the federal government?

The biology of these neat little fish has been well documented out of the Tri-Creeks watershed program

Management programs for the Athabow abound out of Edson and Edmonton HQ  to the days of Dr. Paetz.

Unfortunately the above plans and implementation of them are only collecting dust in archives of Alberta.

Something is amiss Ladies and Gentleman, and I believe the new federal government is about kick Albertans in the teeth again.

That is why the survey only asks for social implications, not biological.

I hope I do not get kicked off the forum for this post.

I notice there are a lot of sheepdogs on here, not sheep.

And the sheepdogs are doing ok.
