Back Yard Fly fishing
« on: June 13, 2017, 09:13:27 PM »
Just a little Fly fishing action in the back yard with the Chironomid and goes to show when they stop hitting the chironomids in the evening you may pick off a few more on the micro or balanced leech. This may be one of the best parts that I've enjoyed after moving is having access to fish right in the back yard. Wife says 10 minutes to dinner... fishing!

Man that would be cool to have pond in the back yard that is good stuff.  Thanks for the video.  Love fishing the chironomids but agree that a good ol bobber fished leech can be the ticket.  A guy can fall victim to trying to find just the right pupa pattern at just the right depth when it would be better just to switch right out sometimes.

Yeah I've heard that before.  Obviously I've Survived 34 year of reckless living so far... so I'll probably continue on for the next 34 the same way.

The pond is not longer aerated.  It doesn't usually freeze in the winter time and if it does just for a few weeks.  They used to aerate it when the pond was new during the summer.  Now that it has a lot of natural weeds and vegetation they're supposed to oxygenate the water.  Seems to work.  Summer of 2015 was hot and dry.   Pond levels dropped so much and water temps sored and we had a big fish die off.  None of the big fish survived that summer, but thankfully the little guys did and those are the ones I'm catching in the video.  It was restocked again this spring.  I'll attach the video below of the stocking.  The put little ones in and they grow so fast.  Strange for the lower mainland area.  Usually this area has small slow growing trout due to poor nutrient levels.
