Couple nice tip up pike
« on: March 13, 2016, 05:23:12 PM »
Fishing in Pinehurst for Northern Pike with Windlass Tip-Up.  At first I tried a standard spot on a shallow flat about 5 to 8 feet of water near a large reed bed.  The area was littered with small pike in the 2-5 pound range pulling on my baits every few minutes so I got out of that area.  Moved to another area off a rocky point with a sharp break in about 10 feet of water and had a couple nice pike come through.

Thanks Walleyes.  This was actually a couple days before I used the same technique along a sharp break with same herring position and caught the personal best pike I shared earlier.  Seems to work well.  After so many years of doing the same thing thought it was time to experiment.  Will be up in a week see if I can bump into any other pike but I think perch and walleye will be main targets.
