Dream Come True
« on: November 02, 2015, 07:40:59 AM »
Ever since I was a little kid, Steelhead have always been at the top of my bucket list. Last week I was in Smithers and Terrace for work again and fished some evenings by myself. I caught a couple Coho and bull trout but decided to get a guide for two full days before I came home. Using a guide is nice because of the access with a jet boat I don't have. The first day we fished the Kalum river, it was high but the water level was dropping with about 1 foot of visibility. It turned out to be a fairly nice day as the rain held off for us. We managed one more coho which got off before we could get a picture. The second day it was decided to fish the Skeena even though most of the fish were up the tribs already. It was a pretty miserable day (stereotypical winter steelhead weather) and rained on us most of the day. A couple very small bull trout was all we had caught until we pulled up to the last run for the last couple hours. About an hour later on one of my swings with the spey rod, I thought I had snagged bottom, except when I pulled it to un-snag it, it shook its head and made a run. She took a few good runs and put up an amazing fight. I land a beautiful 10 pound hen steelhead, truly a dream come true for me. I am still on cloud nine looking at the pictures 4 days later. I am definetly hooked and need to get me another one.

A true beauty Mike congratulations on a fine fish.

Those have to be one of the most beautifull fish ever created.
