My sincerest apologies .....I haven't heard to much about the north but
In the south it's like a whole bunch anglers came out of their coma .lol
I have been fishing for 65 years , I come from a large community of poachers
Especially fish ....I call it ....The Robin Hood Ethic .....the king than the Queens
And their Govt s Fish and game  were ours for the taking . I see for a variety of reasons fish poaching
becoming even more rampant here and not just new Canadians .
The dippers haven't changed a thing ,it's all about revenue and no expenditure .
I will going to that meeting , now where did I leave my pitch fork and fiery brand .  Lmao

Same old same old . Mostly uninformed public ,given a bunch of data that is likely
BS or modified to suit the ESRD s purpose .
I only fish reservoirs in the south and 15 yrs ago I investigated why no stocking
Of Walleyes in those man made ditches . There's a whole whack of reasons ....
Everything from not conducive to EID s mission ,to costs 'to poor water for this ,
To slow growth rate ,to every ESRD minister couldn't pull their heads out of their
Asses on any given day ! There are no fish to be kept unless you want to pay the
Tag tax ...not enough fish for everybody unless you want to buy them ...I am beginning
To be suspicious of the govts intentions lmao ..other than  more closures there's nothing new .
It is amusing to watch some wet behind the ears nube  go all deranged
Armed with a total lack of knowledge .
But you have to admire Alberta govts in the smoke blowing dept , their still
Trying to sell natural reproductions to support an overused fishery . No other
Govt in North America is trying that bullshit , they charge the public and stock
the fish , it's not about taking all the licence revenue and putting it in general
Funds and screw the public again .
In light of the current Elected Govt it is obvious that a good  amount of Albertans
Will buy anything !  Basically the same as the last one ...or no foreplay before
The actual  act ....you know what I mean!

haha, I figured for sure a handful of you out dated kill all-old boys wouldn't like what I had to say W101!! Sure didn't think you were one of them though lolol!! Your so right,, conservative measures with fragile over extended resources be damned,,, we should absolutely definitely for sure begin pounding the money into stocking so you and your geriatric pals can satisfy your primal urge of clubbing everything that swims... More liberal anti conservative stance from you of, lets let the govt look after what we could and should be handling ourselves through well intentioned self control....If its new PROTECTIVE measures required to control some of you fellas, im all for it... One can only hope some of these "problems" we are saddled with,, die soon with some of our "population".

Well may as well throw me in with that group pack cause God forbid I like to eat a fish now and then as well.

W101 isn't talking about killing everything that bites the hook what he is talking about is proper management and getting something out of a recourses that we put millions into. Put and take fisheries are done in thousands of jurisdictions in North America for walleye and it works just fine. It's about getting something out of what you pay for. Alberta's method of management is brain dead, lazy and out dated, it's the rejects approach. Alberta had a successful walleye hatchery program going what happened to it, it got thrown out the window and we have nothing today. We put millions of dollars a year into fish management in this province what happens to it ? It's spent on more useless studies, wages for fish officers to sit in the office 3/4 of the day and drink coffee, sea-doo's so they can cruise around like goofs on the lake. Lazy, brain dead, moronic approach to management.

No the issue is not the guy that takes home a dozen fish or so a year to eat, it's the puppet people that support this method of management they are the issue. Instead of making changes and supporting proper management they are convinced the same old same old will work. Go ahead keep opening your wallet and giving them your cash for nothing it's working my friend it's working just fine isn't it.

PS. Never go on an outdoors forum and degrade another outdoorsman for wanting to and enjoying the fruits of his labour from the outdoors.

No attack from here walleyes, just defense over the uneducated nube BS comment. Pretty funny stuff! To mention hey, a guy just wants to eat a few fish,,, well that's a phrase that's getting old man... If everyone, and we are talking about a massive user and abuser group here,,,, are hungry,, what unstable resource should be lobbied for next and slated to hit the frying pan and sh*t house....? My comments, namely questions at the fisheries meeting were sound. I never did mention walleye other than referencing as to why fisheries managers have consistently managed for one species only,, namely walleye. Limited harvest on walleye has created a massive problem whereby our for YEARS absolutely mismanaged pike, have seen ridiculous overharvest resulting in widespread collapse of the species in the south. Coupled with the blatantly obvious fact that managing for strictly one species of predator, flooding a system with said, continuing to over harvest the other while negating responsibility to protect the largest specimins of that apex species,,, and wondering why there are issues,,, its simply crazy, absurd and irresponsible. Now one has to wonder,,,, (and i asked,, again sorry Ray??) why we still have liberal 3 pike over 63 cm regs on many lakes after closures on many others... We are now in a situation whereby a massive influx of anglers are pounding fish out of any fishery left open, including multiple little known gems that WERE remaining in a relative state of health, where BIG apex predators could still be caught and released.. AS WE ALL KNOW,,,, big predators are nothing more than a by product of a healthy fishery.... I want nothing further to do with this conversation. I only "checked in" to defend against quite simply one of the most ridiculous, gluttonous statements ive ever bore witness to. Mighty embarrassing Ray... have a fine day
All the best fellas

 Walleye u r right on .

When I read Packs posts I think of that famous poem ....Desiderata.

There's a line there that says " Even the dull  and ignorant have a story to tell "
So do tell us more . I know only to well , as English is my second language ,
It is a difficult one , and reading comprehension is almost non existent.

If I had not fished as many put and take waters as I have ,I might believe
that Alberta Govt have been good intentioned for the last 50 yrs but failed .
A renewable fishery might have been possible but it's too late .Govt's
Have done so many things wrong in Management it's irreversible .
Now it's just about not spending any money on this resource .
Basically I don't care what fish savers have to say , I ve been fishing Walleyes
For 65 years , lifetime member of the Fish and Fry Club. I will keep on eating
fish and they can keep on watching them . Not a thing is going to change .
We are going to hemorrhage when the dippers bring back conservation
               Netting . It's what's best for the resource ....don't ya know .

Sorry I left out the part about Wes Gas at the meeting .lmao

Now here is the truth.....With the Closure of lakes within an hour of
Calgary , the eat anything that swims crowd have moved further afield .
Into Wes-Packs exclusive territory . That territory still has keeper limits
And they are wokking up down the shore keeping everything .
there's no virtue here ,  he is pissed . I believe he's on the other forum
                  In disguise .

There is no doubt in my mind that the north eastern US states, Michigan
Minnesota, N Dakota ,S Dakota, Montana , Idaho and more have no idea
What the hell they're doing in stocking and fish management .
According to PackH they cannot do what they are successfully doing .
Limited to say the least .

Pack has a good point, the Government has painted themselves into a corner by managing exclusively for one species while neglecting others. It's a very poor management scheme.

In my opinion its like most other things in Alberta today as far as our wildlife is concern. All we did over the last few years in go after oil. It was like a gold rush, nothing else matter. Now with so much miss-management the road back is to long. We had thousands of people come here, use the resource be on it's capabilities , and the government did't seem to care. Now that the gold rush has slowed we are not bent, we are broken, and how or can we fix it?

I think the main focus in Alberta has been on walleye because walleye are the most targeted species. The only reason pike are starting to take a hit is because no one can keep an eye to eat so they take home a snot rocket instead.
It blows my mind how people can be against a walleye stocking program in this province yet are fully behind the useless program of stocking every damn mud hole and slew full of useless sterile trout. What on Gods green earth even makes this close to being a good idea. How many millions of dollars and time and recourses are spent and have been spent in this province over the years on putting in a fish that has no chance of ever reproducing how can this be an alternative to stocking a species that will do some reproduction on its own. Think about how many millions of sterile trout have been put into our systems over the years what of those were fully fertile walleye that were put into our walleye lakes what kind of shape do you think our walleye population would be in and our pike population for that matter, I know, they would be overly abundant. We have spent and continue to spend huge resources on species that aren't even native to our waters. When someone does put a native fish in some of those waters like Perch they poison out the native species that is taking care of itself by reproducing so that can keep dumping a sterile fish in there and keep wasting the money. When where and how does this make sense to anyone.

Screw them damn mud hen worm infested sterile fish and put my money in a fish that can and does and will reprocpduce itself and something that I don't have to plug my nose off when eating it.

Anyone that doesn't think walleye stocking works should take a trip out to LLB lake some day and have a fish. That lake was near dead 30 years ago. For a few years they stocked it they even had a rearing pond built and used it to stock the lake and many others in the area. It worked that lake has an abundance of walleye in it. Why did they stop ?? they had a good thing going.

I am not against throwing fish back lord knows I throw back 95% of my catch but what I hate is the wasted money the brain dead approach to the recourse. I am sick and tired of paying and paying for shit and not getting anything back for it. I am tired of watching one group of people in my province taking out what my money has put in and myself not being able to enjoy it. I am sick and tired of stupid politicians and union bosses taking money that we have put into a program and a recourse and using it for personal gain and putting it into programs that have nothing to do with fisheries and telling us lies and using excuses.

Walleye and Jacks are our fish and I would have to agree with you, they are a hardy fish that can make it in most water. I would rather eat a wally more than any other fish out there. I have never fish the south only the north. I backed away from fishing a bit over the last few years because of the bullshi!. It got to point you couldn't float a boat without some new rule, and I don't mean just keeping a fish. Between the boat license and such, and lakes being crowed with people, the fun went out of it for me. Of course my problem is I remember the days before Alberta got invaded, and turned into rape and and take what you can place.
