Got Out Today.
« on: May 30, 2016, 06:46:58 PM »
Got out on the big lake today. Went after lakers first thing in the morning, took a while but we found them. They are up a bit higher, best action was between 50 - 30ft hanging off the offshore shelves in 100 - 130ft of water. 4" coyote spoon out fished Anchovies today. Caught a decent 10# fish on the 9 weight fly rod from down at 30 ft pulled like a tank,, it was fun.

Went for walleye mid day until late afternoon, no action today. We were pretty soaked by then from the 2 storms that hit us so took some of the jump out of us. Hopefully get out again closer to the weekend.

Some of the middle of the run lakers, didn't get a pic of the 10# which was the nicest for the day.

Beautiful pictures Walleyes.

Do you folks take temperature profiles?

Do you think you were fishing a turnover spot.  Do you think rain was part of the equation?

Thanks for the pictures.

No I have never ran a temp profile that would be interesting to do. Of course my sonar has surface temp which the old lake is still pretty cold. I have found this time of year they generally are shallower, not in the shallows per say but just up higher in the water column. As the summer progresses they will move deeper. In years past just after ice out you can find them right up tight in the shallows but everything seems to be progressed this year about 2 weeks ahead of time.

Nice job. Hope to get up there for a couple days this summer. My riggers are collecting to much dust haha.
