Ya, pretty exciting day to say the least for my first day on the ice this season. Even the pic doesn't do that hog rainbow justice. It was a slab and a half. Paul did an awesome job of getting the fish to the hole after some big runs on very light flourocarbon line and a tiny barbless hook. I was able to get my hand in and gently ease it onto the ice. This fish was released completely unharmed.
My day was exciting too. Never lay your rod down for even a second unattended. I learned the hard way....
Kinda pisses me off because Paul gave me that nice little rod and reel as a Christmas present a couple of years ago. Well, at least he got to see it rocket down the hole too as another big trout hit when I set it down for a mere second. It had very light line and a tiny barbless hook so the fish should be able to shake it.
Here is a pic I took of Paul fighting Mr. Rainbow on my cam.
