Ice fishing Utikima Lake
« on: February 06, 2012, 04:48:43 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has been up to Utikima Lake this year and what the conditions are like? Anyone know if it's producing any perch?

Haven't heard of anyone really getting into the perch there, but it sounds like they're finding the walleye ok and a few good pike as well.  But it also sounds like its being the typical Utikama, hit or miss...

Used to catch some pretty nice perch there, but there is so little structure there its hit and miss, sometimes its just luck there I think. Many times fished all day there and then at 4:30 to 5 the walleye would go crazy, then bam, nothing. But its such a big lake, mostly it gets fished on the east side where you can get on through the lease roads. There's spots on that lake that don't get touched.

I cut my teeth fishing on that lake, my dad and his buddies used to fish up that way all the time.  There are definitely better lakes in the area, unfortunately alot of them your not allowed to access because they're on the reserves.  Some of them you can get permission on, or at least you used to be able to.   I quit going to Utikima cause I figured if I'm going that far, its not much further to get onto more consistent lakes in the area...
