Spent Friday out on LLB Lake and Saturday spent the morning on Spencer and the afternoon on Touchwood.
LLB was a bit slow, we managed a few fish nothing of any great size for that lake. A couple pike that may have went 8# and one walleye in the 4# range. In total we iced 9 walleye and 1/2 dozen pike. So it wasn't a bad day just the size wasn't there. The fish seemed to be deep for this time of year, we kept expecting to find them in the 10 - 15 range but they were hanging in the 15 - 20' depths. Jigs or Swedish pimple tipped with minnow did the best.
Spencer on Sat was the toughest it made us work for the walleye which is unusual for that lake. We only managed one keeper as we iced 4 under and 6 over the slot size. Some darn nice fish but one goes into Spencer for meat not fishing if you know what I mean.. It was fun but still a little discouraging when you have your mind set on a walleye feed.
Touchwood,, well in all honestly we didn't try that long maybe 2 hrs. Again it was slow. A few smaller pike in the 4# range we were hoping to get on the Perch but the wind and chill got to us and we gathered up and got out.
In all it was a bit slow, as a fisherman I will blame it on the cold front that rolled in and shut them down who knows. In the end it was a fun weekend to close off the ice season as I am headed back to work this morning and won't be home until after the season closes.
Open water come on !!
