Last Couple Days For The Season.

It's getting down to the last few days of the season for us boys, anybody been going out while they can.
We got out on Wolf Lake yesterday, we had 12 tags in total this year for Wolf in our house the wife my son and myself each had our class B as well as my oldest son had his class B. We were able to fill 6 of the tags the wife's and the oldest boys. I'm heading out tomorrow again to try and fill mine. They weren't hittting heavy at any time but they were down there. We started fishing around 8:30 and had those tags filled around 3:00. We had the grandkids and everyone out enjoying the day so it was a great day to be out. Everyone enjoyed themselves even Grandma said on the way home she really enjoyed the day. Like I said they weren't hitting hot and heavy we had to work for them, sorted through quite a few small Pike and a couple under sized eyes to get the ones we wanted but I will say we did get a nice average size fish. All in the 45-50 range real nice eating size. They were very light biters and didn't really like much action, most were caught on the dead stick with a snell hook tipped with shiner. Only a couple took the jigs in motion and at that it was a slow suck in not a hard hit. Even the dead sticks you really had to watch as the rod tips would just slowly bend over under their weight.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day so I'm headed out alone to try and fill my tags. Hopefully get a couple pics up of the day, I was to busy yesterday with the grandkids and helping them and just being out there I never bothered to take a couple snap shots.

Nice to be out for sure, once again it's mid march and I haven't made it out at all. Been deciding to sled this late coming snow instead of dropping lines lol. Plus when I didn't have to do paper work catch up or sledding, it was minus frickin cold

Was able to fill my tags today, was another awesome day to be outside. Went solo today I enjoyed the time alone in the quiet.
Had to work for them again today, landed 6 in total, 1 was just under and 2 over 50, actually they were both over 55 with one 61. The big one I have a pic of, was covered in small leaches, big female been sitting on the bottom all winter not moving around enough.
Couple pics of the day.

Thanks for the pictures Walleyes.
I hope you had your leech tags as well.
The big female sitting on the bottom. Was she healthy looking when it comes to the guts and the flesh?
Just another question Walleyes. How did eggs look like? Were there lots of them? Were they nice and yellow, or a little brown and yellow?
Thanks

Right on Walleyes nice to get some of them tasty buggers in the freezer, weather has been pretty good for fishing especially after this angry hag of a winter.
I've been pretty busy with work stuff but we've managed to get some walleye tags filled at gull along the way. Hit slave for the first time this last weekend for 1.5 days and did okay but talking to a couple folks who fish there more it was slower than usual. Saturday was pretty boring until about 6:00 and then the action was good until 9:00 but missed a bunch. Took home six for some suppers. Really neat place to fish plan to go back next year.
Might try and target some whites this weekend, haven't done that in a while.

Can't say what the inside of that big girl look s like grey she was too big for the slot size she went back in the drink. Only caught one female and her eggs looked ok but small, same as the males all of them the milk was hard yet. Which I find odd for this time of year they should be getting ready to spawn. Me thinks it's going to be a late spring this year.
Had them for supper last night,, man it was good, been a long time since we had a walleye feast we so enjoyed it.

Thanks for the reply Walleyes.
Glad to know you had some tasty food. I bet there were no scraps for Gunner.
I was thinking that a big gravid female would be bringing in leeches because of her potential to spawn. But maybe not.
We just might have a later spawn.
Thanks again.
