Looking for fishing advice
« on: February 20, 2018, 01:18:32 PM »
Hello everyone!

I am posting on behalf of my dad (Vladimir) who is going to be visiting Calgary in March. I was hoping to organize him some fishing as he is an avid fisherman in Ottawa where he currently lives. He has not had a chance to explore amazing Alberta fishing yet and I am hoping that if he liked it here for fishing (he already has done some wild mushrooming and LOVED it!) he would agree to relocate :)

I know.... Sort of selfish reasons.... But I really want him to love it here and after 18 years in Ottawa where he knows everything, it is hard for him to sway.

A bit about us... My dad is almost 74, but super active especially when it comes to catching some fish. So far, fishing has been his "life" in Ottawa area and he has a large Russian (well, former Soviet Union) community that he organizes to fish for anything that bites :)

My brother and I have moved to Calgary almost 4 years ago and want our dad to be closer. Thus the post in this forum....

Anyone? Any advice? Tips on "productive" places to fish in March as a start?

Any help and any info would really be appreciated!!!!

Katerina

Wish I could help you but don't fish down that way to much.  I'm sure someone would be willing to share a few tips maybe via pm.  Getting tough to feel comfortable posting just about any info publicly these days.  I know my days of sharing pics or tips whether via forum or phone, are behind me.  Just to many people lurking around this interweb thing nowadays.

With that said I truly wish you luck, and I hope you can show your father a good time.  A lot of the time the journey is the most important thing.  Fishing is just like the weather, the worse it gets the better it is when you have those good days.
