my perch fishin adventure today
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:10:44 PM »
well we headed out south of conklin about 30k to an unnamed lake and did quite well... the largest perch was 15 inches long with the majority being 12 and 13 " ... we limited out in about 4 hours... tried for that super elusive huge jumbo but couldnt snag one... the well operator beside us pulled out an absolute football.... oh well i have a sink full of really big perch and had a great time with my buddy steve...

Right on guys.  I know that lake too.  My buddy is headed in there for the weekend and setting up a wall tent.  Glad you and Steve made it.

Nothing new for me Wildmeat.  I used to go in there long before 881 was ever built.  We used to have to get there from the old Conklin sand road.  We even took a 12 foot aluminum in there about 20 years ago; it was hell getting there.

yes sir... it is definitely worth the drive... these small clean muskeg lakes produce the best tasting fish as far as im concerned.. you can even tell the difference in the color of the meat

Cross Lake fishin was ok but had to work at it to catch the bigger ones. The weather was a little cool in the morning but warmed up in the afternoon.
