New Regulations.

Just going through the new regs and have came across some interesting and by that I mean stupid additions. I'm sure I'll find more. Here's one that caught my eye.
It is unlawful to.
-Dispose of unused bait within 50 metres of water bodies except in a regularly serviced waste disposal receptacle.
How bout the ones that fall off your hook, they don't go into the water ?? fricken idiots !! What if you catch minnows in that lake and use them, you can't throw them back in the lake. Who comes up with these rules,, man stuff like this pisses me off. Can't stand idiocy. Just another excuse to fine people, just another damn money grab.
It says in the regs that if you catch minnows for bait to immediately throw back what you won't use. Yah but you can't throw bait back into the lake so,, now what.
IDIOTS I TELL YOU,, IDIOTS OF THE HIGHEST DEGREE.
Just had to find something to set me off lol.

So stupid it's unreal. I know where they are trying to go with this but it's absolutely absurd. On an average decent day of walleye fishing I will go through at least 2 maybe 3 tubs of minows and a couple small tubs of leaches. Where does that bait go ?? It goes in the water or eaten by the fish regardless it's in the system. So, after I have already left 3 tubs of bait in the lake it's dangerous for me to dump the last half tub of minnows in the water and give the fish a few freebies, that's going to upset the Eco system or poison the lake, that last half a tub.
Unreal, it just blows my mind how dumb this one is.

I'm not up this late drinking boys,, I'm working night shift lol.
This one has me worked up. Not that it will help with this communist regime but a letter I sent to Shannon Phillips our minister of parks and environment. It's her mug on the new regs so she got the letter.
In regards to the new regulation on the topic of un used bait. The new regulation prohibits anyone from discarding unused bait with in 50m of a water body. Did anyone think this one out or is this just an idiots answer to a problem.
I can see where this is going as we don't want to introduce invasive species to a body water but think about this for a minute. When we take a tub of minnows or worms or leaches to a lake or stream to fish with them a good percentage of that bait stays in that body of water already. Either by falling off the hook and by the fish taking the bait off or knocking it off. I am a very avid angler I spend hundreds of hours a year fishing. On average on a decent day angling for walleye for instance I will use up 2-3 tubs of minnows a couple tubs of leaches and maybe one container of earth worms. That bait is in the lake, either in the form of food that a fish has eaten or it has fallen off the hook and will be picked up by fish. Regardless it's in the body of water it's part of the system. Now,, you are telling me that if I have a half tub of minnows left over that last half tub if I throw it in the lake those are the ones are an issue, those are the ones that are going to tip the balance of the lake. What about the times I catch my own minnows out of one of our lakes. Under the new regulations it's unlawful for us to throw those minnows back in the body of water they came out of. To further that issue according to the regulations when we catch our own bait we should only keep what we feel we will need and throw the rest back. Well under the new regulations it's unlawful to throw them back they are now bait.
If this isn't one of the dumbest un thought out foolish rules I have ever witnessed in my life I don't k know what is. If you people can't come up with more inventive ways to fine people and grab more cash just give up and leave it to people who can run it properly.
Yours truly,
Another pissed off Albertan.

Don't get this one either. I don't think they are concerned as much about minnows as they are earthworms and if that is the case what a pointless money grab.
Honestly I don't see anyone getting into to much trouble dumping out some minnows. The fish and wildlife enforcement I've run into in the past have been great people not worried about spilt milk. Even the hardcore guys I've been warned about in my area have been good after some conversation.
It's a stupid rule and I have sent a letter off myself but I'm pretty positive the enforcement will be minimal.

Has anyone heard or read the background reasons for this law? Other than another way for
the man
to stick it to the people who feed him.

I would assume they are worried about invasive species which is fine and dandy but as we all know it's a little late after you are done using the bait in the water already lol. Sask has a law that prohibits the use of any live bait that is not purchased in the province, you need to provide proof of purchase when asked to. Now this makes sense and is a regulation that will work. Once again Alberta shows its inability to properly manage an issue. It never ceases to amaze me how well Sask manages its fish and wildlife in comparison to Alberta.

What if I seine minnows out of the lake, use a bunch, and do not want to take the rest home. Is it illegal for me to throw them back into the lake that they came from to feed the fish? What a joke. Politics and outdoor pursuits make piss poor bedfellows!!!!

No kidding , that's the problem, we have a government that has no idea and is so out of touch with sportsmen and our activities. If we where backpacking granola eaters they would be by our side in a heart beat asking questions. But I also have to admit that pass Governments have done a poor job also. It's has been overlooked for so long now it's become normal.

It is a classic government move "If you can't do anything meaningful do more of something" cash grab.
No surprise but no reply what so ever from the ministers office lol.
