Night Fishing
« on: June 06, 2019, 05:47:38 PM »
Has anyone experimented very much with night fishing? Specifically. with a nice bright moon.

I have used Woolly Buggers under a full moon for stocked rainbows with success.

Anyone use the bright moon for Walleye? Those big eyes have evolved for a reason. Is this the time to use a big juicy leech for those hours when the sun is just on the horizon, coming up or down. Or maybe a shiner or five of diamonds?

Afterwards, you can sleep all day, or. if you are young, party with the girls.

We fished Moose at night with lighted slip bobbers. It was moon lit night and it was pretty neat you could see the bobbers under water clear as bell.

We tried it a few times over the years and can’t say as it was ever great fishing. Best fishing has always been the last couple hours before sunset.

Excellent. Night fishing with a bright moon is a lot of fun for more than one of us.

Thank you Mister agritech. I hope calving season came out with few complications.  Also happy gopher shooting.

Calving season was great we had mostly bulls so that was good as we are only selling them. Going tomorrow to buy  more calf/cow pairs if the price is right. Gopher shooting has been pretty good but two of our best fields are either to grown up now or have cattle in them.

What type of cattle are you raising?  Wife and I are going to start building a small herd of either black angus or speckle park in the next year or two.

Back when we fished Pinehurst a lot(30 yrs back), we would boat out to the point just off to the left of the campground and night fish at midnight. Tried it a few times, not enough action to keep doing it. Rather sleep and go to other places on the lake at sunrise :)

Years ago night fished dolly's at the mouth of creeks on the river, with spears and a coal miners light on my head. It was great fun, of course times have changed.

We only have a few as well, ten on the BIL's farm. Original were Angus/Angus, (not purebred)  but the Angus will be bred with Limo bull from now on.  Looked at speckle park but doesn't seem to be much demand for them, at least not around here and the prices I have seen at the auction from the few that have went through are not as good. A lot of the bigger auctions have their auctions live stream now so you can view the animals and prices every week.
