Open Waters Coming
« on: March 18, 2016, 06:41:31 PM »
But I'm coming to the Ice!  I really can't get enough ice fishing.  Don't know what it is about it.  I think ever since I've got the flasher sonar I just love it!  Anyways I'm on my way hope to hit the ice Sunday.  Slave lake.  See you guys out there if anyone is up that way.

Here is what I've been doing in the back yard this last week on the lower mainland.

Open water can't come fast enough for me. If a lake never froze again wouldn't hurt my feelings lol.

Its coming.  Have to wait till after the closure anyways.  I like the changes...  variable challenges.  Gives me something to look forward to.  Also much easier to video on ice.  I feel my ice stuff is better than the boat.  Because the stable ground is everywhere for a tripod in winter.

You should head to California in the winter for some open  water fishing!  Winter bass.  They school up good in deep water and guys who figure it out  catch fish all day.

Yah I'm counting the days, shinning the boat, cleaning the reels, can't wait.

Hmm....open water.

Now you got me thinking of the Atha-B river in Jasper..

Might head there tomorrow and maybe hook a bull trout.. :)

Sonny:

Let's coin a new "term" for those bull trout you chase after.

How about "Atha-Bull"?  We already have an "Atha-Bow".

Oh sure.. Next thing you know they will be distinguished as a unique species that is endangered. Then they will shut down all angling on the Athabasca to protect them from extinction.

Nope,, just leave it boys..

Settle down Walleyes...lol

Bull trout have been protected for a long time and are only catch and release.

The Atha-B won't be shut down... ;)

First lakes were ice free down here February 21st this year. We have been having lots of fun with the early season trout. The pike fishing will be really good in another week or so on the open lakes/ private waterbodies. Early ice off is the best!
