Hit the NSR in the city !! I don't have a boat and just started fishing again this year, havent really fished since I was a kid. If I got an itch for the action, the River delivers most of the time, lots of good shore spots if you're willing to do some climbing or research.
Warning though, get a good pair of mucks and don't bring your upper end gear as the clay and mud can get into it quite easily if you're not careful (i.e. slipping and tumbling down an embankment). Wash your hands after too, lol.
Caught this one last Saturday casting a jig (bait isn't my thing, see attachment), it put a noticeable good bend in my rod and I let it drag for a minute to tire out so I could bring it in. I'd say it was close to 5#, if not over and good action. In total, I caught 5 in 2 hours at my spot (3 were quite small, 2 were larger like in the pic). I don't keep any from the river and it would take a lot for me to do so. And by a lot, I mean six figures. But still..good action. I'd say I've caught about 15 (Pike and Wallys) in the NSR since I started in Mid September.
