Ha ha, Walleyes.  You are a mind reader.  I might be in for a trip to the big lake this weekend if the stars align.
Some planning has to come together first with a couple buddies and some local friends in LLB.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

I miss the perch fishing in the NE, one day we will move back to that country until then I have to settle for big eyes and big pike in the south.  Trying to decide if we are heading to Newell for 12+ pound walleye or go to Lower kananaskis for some big bull trout on Saturday.

Yah,, I dont really feel sorry for you when you put it like that lol..

Newell does hold some awesome eyes in it,, fished it quite a bit when we lived down there.  With that said in all honestly mike you have to make the trip north and experience La Biche it really is something special. You have to experience it to beleive it. Especially on the open water it's unreal.

It is definetly on my list of lakes to hit up.  How are the perch doing in the lake?  Your eyes in la biche are definitely a thing of beauty, Cold lake produces some good ones to just not to the extent lac la biche is right now.

There is nothing better than a jumbo 13+ inch perch to me.  Ive been to a lot of places chasing them including Manitoba, Ontario, north Dakota, home in sask and alberta.  When we move back north I will be doing a lot of back country sled/quad into exploring for them little pigs.  If it wasn't for a trip t mexico in a week and Bluefin tuna fishing in mid march, Id be heading down to Idaho to fish Cascade lake for them.

Looks like I may have to call the trip off for tomorrow as well. Big winter storm hitting our area tonight and tomorrow. Between the freezing rain and 10 - 15cm of snow not sure if it's worth it to travel that road. Probly end up staying local as well,, we will see come morning.

We ended up going to Skeleton Lake on Sunday.  Pretty slow day.  Perch were biting a bit in the morning but the bite ended when a fog bank rolled in.
Pike were finicky but we managed 5 or 6 or six each throughout the day.  Surprisingly no walleyes this time out.
All fish went back down the hole yesterday.
About 20 inches or more of good ice now.

I bought a Jiffy 3hp at a garage sale this summer and did a tune up on it and it ran like a champ.  Starts first pull and has a solid power band.

Good report Axe.

I never went out at all, stayed in the shop for the weekend.

Hope to get in a trip or two this week during the warm spell.
