We have been going to the island in Feb-mar for a number of years ,mostly Vic south . Never
Saw as much rain as this trip and it was warmer in South Ab most days . Scheduling and familly
Didn't allow me to get out . Most day trippers not working . Ate a pile of good sea food .
Spent quite a bit of time looking for a residence .   Ouch ! Nice to go away but even better
To come home ..The pooch is putting me in the poor house staying at the doggy day spa .lol

Glad to hear you had a good trip, too,bad you couldn't get out on the water.

It is a nice place to visit but it's always nice to get back to Alberta isn't it. You mentioned looking for a residence there. The wife and I looked at that for a couple years now and in all honestly we changed our minds. I love the place but the people really turn us off. Just not our type. Left wing socialist nut bags to put it in a nut shell. It's always nice to get home to our own kind. No I think we will always visit there and enjoy it it is beautiful but I think I will keep my money home. Screw them commies out there I wouldn't give them the pleasure of getting my hard earned retirement dollars.

Bingo ....Walleyes were you sitting behind us on the plane . Cause that's exactly what
We were saying After 3 winters there . We realize how much Alberta is home .
Victoria is pretty dirty and not our thing . We will go look at comox later
In the year next year .....never been further north than  Qualicum ....

Seems the farther north you go the people get a little more reasonable. Comox, Parksville has a lot of Albertans retired there it's a nice area. Port Alberni has some good buys going on. There are some nice acreages for a reasonable buy between Comox and Alberni. What's nice about that area is it's very central to the island and Comox has the big airport as well.

Do your do diligence and spend some time asking and looking around. The best deals are the private deals. Like Alberta the real estate agents are trying to artificially hold up the price. Spend some time at it and you will find the private deals and save yourself 1/4 off most asking prices.

Have you thought of winter-early spring steelhead?

Not sure how good it is at this time of the year.

Walleyes might know something.

I've never been steelhead fishing, yet. But it is quite popular out there with some pretty decent rivers they have on the island. I think that is one game that a person would want to take a guide for sure for the first couple times to get the hang of it. I knew a guy that used to own the tackle shop in Tofino and he also ran a guide and charter outfit out of Tofino as well. They did heli trips into a secluded River on the west side of the island and I saw some of the pics of their catches and they were quite impressive. Not a cheap trip by any means but it would be an experience.

Here is his outfit,, heck of a nice man.
