Had two excellent trips out to the West Coast this year.
Spent the first two weeks of July at Prince Rupert with friends and family. Didn't get into the big springs, but we did catch some. Biggest was 21 lbs. Caught tons of Coho, Cod, Rockfish of all kinds, and some Halibut. Crabbing was unbelievable. Came home with full freezers and a TON of memories that will last a lifetime (if I quit cooking with aluminum).
Best thing about it was were were able to put the kids on a lot of salmon. Both my son and daughter played those salmon like pros. My son learned FAST why they call single action reels knucklebusters. I foul hooked a 17 lb spring that had us chase him for a hour to bring him in. He was caught in he side with a single hook, by no more than skin!! We thought we had a pig of a spring. A lot of excitement there!!
Next we went to Pender Island to visit my Dad. Went out in his boat to find the pink run. Really good run this year and it didn't take long to get into the salmon. One day of bad weather, I was glad to have a heated cabin!!
Here's some pics.
Can't wait to go back some time!
