Wolf Lake Fishing for Water Wolves. We all know about the super heavy snow year, there was 4 feet of snow in the bush around the lake. If it weren't for the warm weather and 100 km winds a few days before I don't think we would have got on the lake. A trapper had made one rutted trail across the lake to his cabin. Couldn't get out to the spot I had fished before years ago. So we headed back to a point adjacent a shallow flat dropping into the North lake basin. Only managed one larger pike 10 pounds, an 8 a few 5's and 6;s and smaller. Not huge but really fun to catch. It's been years since I've been out after big pike on the ice. Northern Pike were biting great and had flags going constantly, two three at a time. All fish caught on Windlass tip ups with quick strike rigs shown in the previous video. Also was fishing with my 2 year old daughter who tried to catch some and actually got one up the hole with the help of mom.

I think I'll get myself some flouro leader for next time on the quick strike rigs.

Yeah most of the time she's running around playing in the snow, hard to get her to come and try to pull one in.  Has to be when she wants too.  She loves it for short periods of time though if she can be catching something.  Took her out for perch and she reeled in I think 4 or 5 in a row then she was done.

Decent snake Brandon,, Sam and I fished Wolf last summer and had no problem catching snakes,, did I ever tell you how much I hate catching those things lol.. We did manage to get on the eyes and did really well on them for our first trip to the lake. We are looking forward to getting out there again this summer.

You've never told me how much you hate snakes.... I like catching anything.  Hahaha.  My biggest winter walleye came out of wolf when I was pulling up a tipup at night.  She hit a big herring on the way up the hole.  Wolf is a cool lake I like it, two separate basins with totally different characteristics and a large shallow flat connecting them.  Interesting lake.  I've never fished it in the summer though.  Hear you can't keep the snakes off the hook and walleye fishing is decent with some larger ones.
