« on: September 14, 2011, 02:46:23 PM »
Well... just brought home my new addittion to my family. A .270wsm in a Tikka T3.

Anyone here shoot one .... was wondering a good all around factory load. I havent yet gone to the range yet, and pushed anything down the tube, but cant wait.

Will be using on all big game, any tips or advice would be welcome.    :)

I bought a T3 in 7mm rem mag last year hayseed, very happy with it out of the box. I am sure you will find the same sort of performance in the .270 wsm, for the money the best rifle out there in my opinion.

For factory I would shoot something in the 130gr. My bro's 270wsm shot good with some federal 130's and now I reload for him. 130 gr ttsx. I myself shoot 110gr ttsx but again that's not a facrory round. I'm sure it will shoot dam near anything you put in it. I'm a big fan of the 270wsm, but you know that already.

It shot three caribou and a couple deer with the 110 and they all died. One caribou was shot through the shoulder blades and went straight down 175 yards. Nice holes on all animals, little damage, couple through the ribs and about a looney size hole out the back. All but the one caribou were shot closer then 100 yards so I havn,t had a chance to reach out and smack something. Going to be going for some elk soon and I'm itching to see what she can do to a big boy.

My Kimber likes the "Remington Express Core-Lokt" 130gr., smacked my Wht. last year at 340yds. Nice flat shooting cart.
One day your life will pass in front of your eyes, make sure it's worth watching!

This is my go to gun.  I have the Tikka T3 in 270wsm and I find it shoots best with the winchester ballistic silvertip in 130 grain.  Very flat and great here in the southern prairies.  If I am 1" high at 100 then I will be dead on at 200 and 3" low at 300 and 14" at 400.  I switch over to a federal premium 150 nosler on the bigger critters (elk and moose) with similar ballistics.  I love this gun, it is an absolute tack driver.  You will be very happy with your purchase.  ;D
