A Simple Reloading Step VLD
« on: June 06, 2012, 01:45:24 PM »
Here is an old trick that is not mentioned hardly at all.

This is a simple step that I believe has benefits spinning steel wool triple 000 over case mouths after deburring and chamfering.  This is basically polishing the case mouth this step virtually eliminates the case mouth scratching and cutting of the bullet.

Simply stuff steel wool into something that you can spin speed is not that important here.

Sorry for my dumpy photos case on left has been spun on steel wool case on right has not been.  You will have to look close but case on left is-more polished then case on right

This is where a good camera would help me out case on left that was spun on steel wool does not have any copper around case mouth.  Case on right dose you will have to take my word for it.

After pulling bullets top bullet steel wool trick.

A 15 second step to help with run out.

I can't tell from your photo but was there scratches in the bullet from the non polished or just the brass color from the fresh cut brass?

There are scratches  on both but way less on the polished.  In my experience copper is cut not the brass being evident on case mouths.
