Beretta range day
« on: March 26, 2017, 02:30:49 PM »
Finally made it out to the range with the Beretta 92s and had a blast.Fired three boxes and the gun preformed flawlessly with no issues at all.

Only problem is my shooting ability. :-[

Using a bench I wasn't to bad I guess but shooting offhand I was all over the place. :(

Tried three brands of ammo,Blazer,American eagle and Aguila. The Blazer was the snappiest with American eagle a close second but the Mexican Aguila was the tamest I think.

Anyway it was a nice spring day and it was fun. ;D

Personally and this is just me not passing any judgement what so ever, but I have no use for a hand gun. Maybe if they were not a restricted weapon and I could enjoy one freely I would own one but under our circumstances in this communist country we live in I can't be bothered. To me they are just a heat score and an excuse for the Gestapo to go diggin around for something more and poke a pry and bother me with more questions. I have no patients to be bothered. If I did own one it would be a huge cannon for Bear defence while out stream fishing and that would be about it. I don't really like them and I have never aloud one to be kept in my house. The boys have talked about owning them over the years and I have just told them to wait until they are under their own roof, I don't need one under mine. But again,, that's just me I am all for every man freely enjoying what he chooses.

Well walleyes totally get what you are saying but the fact is you are doing exactly what they want.

Divide and conquer.

First they came for my handguns and rifle shooters said nothing.

Then they came for rifles and handgun shooters said nothing.

Walleyes I understand that handguns are not everyone's cup of tea and I'm cool with that.

Hell playing golf is not for me but many people enjoy the hell out of it..good for them.

I do agree with you that the whole restricted thing is BS.. >:(

I'd love to pack my Ruger Blackhawk on my hip when hunting but the law says I can't so I don't,plain and simple.

But the Law also allows me to own handguns and to transport them to a certified range where I can shoot them to my hearts content.

Maybe I went overboard when I said that everyone should have a 9mm and I take that back.I was just expressing my fun for owning one but just like all things..

To each their own.

Trust me boys I fight for your right to own one when I have to, or if I had to and when I have had to. Like I said it's a personal thing I don't care for them much it has nothing to do with being divided. I'm sure there are some on here that don't bow hunt or own a bow, nor see the point in it, doesn't mean they are against it or divided on the issue. If they were legal to use freely as a rifle is I could maybe see myself owning a purpose gun, like a bear defence gun. I have no guns in my arsenal just for fun they all have a purpose even my .22's are for exterminating small rodents or chicken hunting. I own no tool just because. I own no paper  shooting fancy smancy target guns either, don't see the point in it, doesnt mean I'm against them, just don't see the point. Same as a hand gun, what can it be used for, shooting paper. Said before will say it a thousand times,,, Paper tastes like crap, why would I spend thousands of dollars to hunt it ??

I was simply replying or contributing to sonnys post regarding everyone should own one, it's not for me but I certainly enjoy reading or viewing others enjoying it.

If anything the rules are going more in our favore the more people that buy them the better.

Think of it this way really want to piss off a liberal buy a hand gun.

Interesting point of views. I have a buddy that feels that way also Walleyes and I'm more like sonny, I love collecting guns. And like you, I know my buddy has my back when it comes to my right to have hand guns. He  tells me the same thing regarding him owning a hand gun, he feels it's not a tool he needs or can use. He also feels that I have to many guns and what good are they doing sitting in a safe to be taken out now and then, to shoot paper. Jimmy has a point that I believe also, that if more people own hand guns the more the Lib's will pay attention, but that's no reason for a person to own one if not liked, or used. I am always in favor off debates like this as I feel it brings gun owners together, in the end I think you both are on the same page, and how you use or enjoy firearms is what makes them worth fighting for. Stay together though boys, there's room in this activity for many mind sets.

Hi Jimmy:

First of all I am not posting to cause an argument. I know we are dealing with a very touchy issue.

I am not quite sure about the tools thing you said.

My Mother used to pack a handgun when she rode a horse to look for cattle.

Before the registration, I had a little "Lever Arms"  AR that was pretty helpful during calving season.  The gun hating neighbors ran coyotes over with snowmobiles.  The ones that got away died of frozen lungs. Not good.

When I worked on the Cold Lake Reserve, our native brethren treated guns like tools.  They were in a large pile at one guy's place, and you went over to get whatever was there when you wanted one. No real ownership issues.

Tools yes.

Works of Art...yes.

Sporting Goods...Absolutely

Collectors Items...Absolutely

And .....that charter right of self defense a lot of morally superior non-gun owners laugh at.

Cheers and Best Wishes. ;) :)

An argument could be made for most anything in our life's that are not tools.  No one is walking around stark naked picking ants up with there fingers having a snack.

Within reason the more money spent the better care and respect the firearm will receive.  There were no Merkel sxs rifles in that pile at cold lake reserve in fact you could say there was nothing of any real value there in the first place and they treat them as such.  Some may have worked others not so much.

We could also have a similar discussion  in the difference in a firearm and a weapon, lots of dead police officers out there with empty guns before the shooting started have to wonder if they treated there service pistols like tools.

We are just talking here BTW no hurt feelings please.

I do certainly see the allure of collecting guns. Let's face it we all have a cabinet full of them and how often do we get to use them all, heck can't use them all at the same time so really we all collect them some what. I love looking at peoples collections some awefully sweet guns out there. I guess for me the attraction just isn't that strong obviously, I simply view a gun as a tool to hunt with, I don't hunt so I can play with guns or shoot. Although I certainly enjoy shooting my guns to keep up with them, I don't sit at work here and dream of shooting a gun. Hunting, fishing yes that's all the keeps me going but the shooting part, that's just a means to the end is all.

And Jimmy has it right, this is just conversation boys, no hard feelings please.

Went back to the range today and took three handguns. A .22 a 9mm and a .45 auto.

I like the big bang of the .45 but I'm way more accurate with the 9mm.

As for the .22 what can I say,everyone loves a .22lr. ;)

Hi Jimmy: Thanks for the answer. I originally did not notice your approach to firearms.

And yes those guns on the Cold Lake Reserve were not Merkels, but Mk4's, Cooey single shot shotgun's, Cooey .22's of every description, a few Savages in .303, and a couple of "Cowboy Guns (aka. lever actions)" in the dirty dirty  :).

"Cowboy Guns" is a term used by our indigenous brethren, not me.

Anyways, Thanks Jimmy.

Sonny:

Now that you took your little Italian out the range it may be time for a comparison.  Hope you have some ammo saved up :).

Perhaps you should compare your 9mm with a little Belgian, or Canadian (Inglis) Hi Power.

And do not forget an Austrian Glock, or Swiss Sig.

I am also sure someone has a little 9mm Luger  kicking around in your neighborhood.

Life is so wonderful with a little variety. :) :) :) ;) Especially in the 9mm.
