I'm a wimp..

It's true... :(

Ok,I haven't duck/goose hunted since the good old days of lead shot, yeah it's been awhile but I'm thinking I should get back into it.

So I bought a 870 express super mag, yeah the one that will take 3.5 inch shells.

After only seven shots (at the range) I had to put this puppy down...Damn those high veloscity steel loads kick like my wife when I'm snoring badly.. :(

So my question is what about 3 inch ammo,is the kick a little less and would it still reach out and touch someone?

When you were shooting did you shoot at Clays?  Or just fire the shells off moving with the gun makes a huge difference.

A 3 inch shell will do you just fine.

3.5" kick like a mother in that gun or any pump.   3" are fine in any gun. All I shoot is 3" unless I am goose hunting over water.  For field use 2 3/4 or 3" work fine.

Thanks...sometimes bigger is NOT better..lol

Seconded a semi will have much less felt recoil than a pump.  I went with a moss. 935.  Nice gun, even smoother than an old auto 5, and IMHO that's saying something.

Son and I were patterning an old model 55 tight choke bolt for turkey.  Shoot it, check it, back up 10 steps, repeat.  We got as far as 75 yds, I looked at him, said, "Wanna shoot it some more?"  He answered, "No, you?".  It's patterned to 75 yds.   :)
