Wicked little toy Jimmy.. What are we looking at here.
It started life as a 223 throat was shot out and then the barrel set back as a tight neck 223 throat really wasn’t shot out the second time around but I believe the rifling became dull accuracy just wasn’t there any more little over an inch consistently pretty much limited it to a 200 yard gopher gun not really good enough for a varmint rifle.
These rem 700 vssf came with an aluminum bedding block a pretty good idea for a factory rifle. Rob M did the work on it ground down the bedding block and re bedded with Devcon. Has an oversize recoil lug and blue printed the action. The bolt face had to be made larger for the 6br bolt face and a Sako style extractor was installed. Trigger is factory and was set down to around 2 pound when rifle was new over the years the trigger has gotten worse and worse worn out? Rob is going to try and reset it.
Plan will be to shoot 88gr Berger fb bullets. Scope is Robs but a 6.5-20 loopy would be a good fit for the plans I have for it.
