Retumbo
« on: February 13, 2017, 06:56:08 AM »
I contacted Hodgdon and they have no published loads for 338 win mag using Retumbo. There are loads for 7 mm Rem mag , 300 win mag and lots of larger calibers. I read about people using it in 25-06 and hope someone here has had some experience with Retumbo or read about a starting load for 225 gr,338 win mag.My quest continues , thanks.

Curious as to why you wouldn't use another powder that has some established data?  Just curious, have used Retumbo in my 7mm with really good results but have never put that much stock in one particular powder.

I read through reloading data on different calibers and charge weights ( what a nerd, sad) and noticed the efficientcy of certain powders. The load I use for my 338 win mag is the highest one published and I worry about throat erosion and have had issues getting the type of gun powder I use . I was hoping to find a powder that will give me options when I can't find the one I use. None come close to the velocity of Alliant RL 19 and it is super accurate. As you can see I have too much time on my hands and this takes the place of watching tv at night.Sad I know, LOL..
