Rocky Canadian Tire GUNS
« on: February 14, 2014, 11:13:32 AM »

Rocky Mountain House Canadian Tire is following a lot of other CT stores and is going to be selling Firearms very soon.  We had two sporting goods stores here at one time but they have both gone away.  So CT will be the only place in town to by a real gun.

Hopefully they will have a good selection and competitive prices.  Our Fish & game club may be buying a rifle from them for the live auction at our banquet March 15th.

As long as they take it serious then it should be good.  If they carry just cheap stuff and limited selection then it will not be very successful for them.  Too many people will just wait and pick it up the next time they are in the big city.

Heard a rumour the one in Medhat will start carrying guns as well.  Hopefully this is a trend.  Not only will it be great for us, but anyone browsing the sporting goods section will start seeing guns as, "normal" again.

CT has been carrying more and more hunting/fishing stuff, and we've found their prices very competitive.  That's where we buy our clays and traploads every spring.  The one in Leth. usually has a pallet of clays soon as it get's nice out.

The CT in Cold Lake has had guns for over a year now and a very good selection at that. A wide range from low end Savages to Sako, Tikka, Remington, Weatherby, Berreta. The problem is not their selection its the way they go about the sales. I think some of you may have seen a rant I had a while back about the issues there. They are running their own registry, they will not sell you a gun unless you give them your personnel info. I think most gun shops are doing this and it pisses me off. I know when I bought Sam a .410 for Christmas at one of our local shops they took my name and phone number and address. I just don't know what is up with this.

Seems they are all doing this. Dave had a similar deal at the same store Terry, he left. I Had a similar experience in Slave Lake at Grizzly Honda on a .22, guy said it was for warranty, he ranted a bit about "why does everyone have such an issue with this" when I looked at the book he was writing stuff down in it had an RCMP logo on it. Warranty my ass.

I have a letter from Vic Toews office stating I don't have to provide the info, been meaning to post it here.

That's good news, can't wait to check it out.  Would be nice to have a shop in Rocky devoted to Hunting and Fishing as well though.  It's not like Rocky couldn't handle one.  I think the right kind of store could do all right there,  as far as I know (second hand information) Ram River would still be around if it weren't for some unfortunate economic circumstances unrelated to the store.  All I'll say about Timber Creek is not surprised they are gone.

Caroline Supplies isn't far from the doorstep and I buy the odd thing there but it seems everytime I'm looking for a bigger ticket item it's just not realistic to shop there and end up going to the city or ordering online.  Still save with gas or shipping included.    Plan to buy my next scope from there though,  unless something has changed the price on vortex scopes is really good.
