Ruger single six
« on: September 19, 2016, 05:57:30 PM »
Picked up this sweet little pistol just recently. A sweet little Ruger single six .22lr.

All the blueing is pretty much gone but the patina on it looks great.I had it out to the range and put over 100 rounds down range and she went Bang everytime. Also pretty darn accurate too.

I emailed the serial number to Ruger to see when this pistol was made and got a reply the next day. This gun was made in 1958...cool.  8)

To bad we can't hunt chickens with these fun little guns. >:(

Does it have the pre 1973 modification?

Some guys apparently loaded the Single Six with six rounds and stuffed it in their pants. Therefore a modification came about after some catastrophic failures in the safety system.

I always wondered if that story was true.

You have to love those old single six revolvers when you pull the hammer back. Real cowboy stuff.

No modifications on this one and get this..I was told they loose value if the safety mod was made because then they have been altered and are not original. The best thing to do "if" we were allowed to pack would be to only load five rounds and rest the hammer on an empty chamber.

Yes sir there is something about a single action six shooter that just puts a big grin on your face.  ;D

As a bear cat owner, I am a little jealous.  Small bore revolvers are very under rated.
