Tokarev pistols
« on: January 27, 2020, 02:26:33 PM »
These fun guns need their own thread and if anyone has some please post up... (please post up) Yeah that's funny right there isn't it?  8)

So today My Romanian Tok arrived. It was packed in a plastic bag soaked in oil but good cleaning took care of that mess.

All numbers match except for the mag. I can't really see any Romanian markings on it except for a BZ on the side of the frame and on top of the slide. There is miner holster wear around the muzzle but other than that it's in great shape for a 65 year old surplus pistol.

If any of you non handgun owners are thinking of getting a pistol then you should do it now just to flip the bird to Trudeau. 8)

Hi Sonny:

Asking your opinion about Tokarevs.

Which country do you think the most well made Tokarevs come from?

Thanks,

Oh that's hard to say, all the ones I have all seem to be built tough like a T34 tank.  ;)

I will say that my Chinese Tok gets the best groups and it was the cheapest of the bunch at $199 and ten days later they went on sale for $179 at Bullseye sports London Ontario.
My first Tok was a 1942 Russian. I fired close to 4000 rounds with that pistol. One 1000 round case of Czech surplus ammo and then a 2560 round crate of Russian copper wash surplus ammo, plus a few boxes of Sellier&Bellot ammo.
It didn't like the Czech ammo and I was getting a lot of failure to feed, failure to fire and some failure to eject with the Czeck crap.
The Russian copper wash on the other hand was great with no issues at all.
I should write a letter to little rocketman in North Korea and ask them to send me one made in the DPRK.  ;D

Yeah that won't happen. lol Anyway Hicock45 put out a pretty good review of these if you're interested.

Took the Romanian to the range today and this is by far the most accurate one as far as tight groups go BUT there's troubles in River city.

I can only get 1 or 2 shots off and then the slide locks open even when there are still rounds in the mag. Stripped it down again and still had the same problem. Tried the mag from my Russian in the Romanian and same problem. Tried the Romanian mag in the Russian and same problem. Tried the Chinese mag in the Romanian and BINGO, problem solved. Tried the Romanian mag in the Chinese pistol and that was good too. So now I have..

A Russian that shoots good with a Russian or Chinese mag.

A Romanian that only shoots good with a Chinese mag.

A Chinese that shoots good with all the mags.

I still don't know what the exact problem was but all three pistols are going pew pew pew now as they should.  8)
