Looks like a fun one all right Sonny..

What's the story behind the weapon ??

To our gun guys,, what's the deal with this style of muzzle break on this gun,, it's not really a break is it more protection from obstructions ??

Found some interesting stuff on it.

Far as I can tell it's a Tula

Well I took it to the range but didn't feel like trudging through knee deep snow to put a target up so I just fired 40 rounds down range and WOW.This thing is like a SKS on steroids. ;D You should have seen the big grin it put on my face.lol
I even bump fired it without breaking my thumb.
The only down side to this rifle is that it's a lot more complicated to strip down and clean thaan a SKS but the giggle factor in this gun makes up for it. ;D ;D

The front sight on the Mosin is adjustable for windage but not for elevation. The svt front sight is like the sks sight.adjustable for windage and elevation so I'm thinking it shout be pretty accurate.
Prvi Partizan makes a 170 gr soft point in 7.62 x 54r ,Winchester has a 180 gr and Silver Bear makes a 203 gr soft point.Yes sir I can see me taking it deer hunting next fall, heck I wouldn't even hesitate to use it on a moose. ;)

Anyway the 7.62 x 54r round has been in use for a long time and is still in use today in the Dragunov sniper rifle.

Damn you Sonny, and gotta' love her.

So, I've thought of getting an svt for awhile, but, you know, it'd just be a toy, and in my youth I had a colt ar-15 and while it was fun, boy you went through the rounds.

So, I see Sonny's post.  Then, by happenstance I come across an ad for one at a pretty nice price...............

So I pick up my wife from work, tell her I bought a toy today, then begin to discuss what to buy for ammo, ie, 880rnd crate's are the cheapest, but we can also buy down to 120 of surplus, or 20 round boxes of non berdan primed and reloadable;  we already have dies.

She looks at the pic of the svt and says, "Oh, we're definitely going to need an 880 round crate, that looks like too much fun!"

Thus, gotta love her, and damn you Sonny.   :)
