I gotta go with the 22 hornet. Even though it is one of the most frustrating cartridges I have ever loaded for it still makes me giggle like a kid when I shoot it.
Sorry I don't ice fish or hunt rabbits, but I did stay at a Holliday in express last night.

Never shot a Hornet,, an older brother has one and I have handled the shells quite a bit but never had the opurtunity to blast it off. It has always interested me though. I shoot a 22mag and love it an awesome little gun to shoot..

I will assume the OP was asking about our favourite CARTRIDGE.

I have shot more game with a .264 winchester magnum than anything else.
However the first big game animal I shot was with a borrowed .300 savage in a Savage Model 99.  I now have one and have shot some more game with it.  It just might be my favourite.

Glancing through a hunting magazine today and I saw an ad for the Ruger American rifle.  It said it came in 4 chamberings.
30/06
.270
.308
and .243

Sounds like a collection of favourites.

If I could only have one boom stick then it wouldn't be a calibre but rather a guage..

Yup..the good old 12 guage...*double thumbs up*.. ;D

This thread was asking which was our favourite.

I reckon if you asked the question in another thread, "which is the most versatile cartridge?"  you would get a number of different favourite versatiles.

Mine would have to be the .280ai with the 7mm-08ai coming in a close second!

Shoots accurate as hell to the 600yrds I've shot out to. Has one shot moose, elk, mtn goats and deer with minimal meat damage. As well it's easy to fire form factory loads to it. As well being AI it requires minimal to no trimming between reloads.  It to me is an unbeatable mid range caliber.

Ballisticly they are pretty close. I'm shooting nosler ballistic tips but not sure off hand the velocity. Bullet performance has been perfect on the recovered bullets. Most being found just under the offside skin with almost full bullet mass retention.

I like the 7mag.  Great all around gun imho.  Someday when I'm independently wealthy I'll buy another 5 of them  :D

I guess I never did mention any specifics

I like .22's - shits and giggle with kids and cheap

.222 - my first centerfire - easy to load

.17 Rem - vaporized gopher = awesome

25-06 - first Deer Gun

264 Win Mag - had to build one when the Arsehole forum's resident expert started to badmouth it in favour or the 270 WSM - what a great calibre with new powders

7 x 61 Sharpe and Hart - the original 7 mag

308 Norma Mag - Original "short mag"

300 Weatherby - overbore euphoria

577/450 - first military cartridge - and just fun

Depends what is in store that day!!  The 17 hmr is my favorite gopher exploder, with the 223 a close second.
I pack a truck gun that is cheap durable accurate and goes everywhere I do, in 243 win hand loads with v- max's for yodel dogs. And nos PT loaded for when its got to punch above its weight class . Rigged up a nice 300 winny as a longer range gun topped with a decent leupy mark 4 , but ill be the first to admit that I got a lot of learning when it comes to twisting the dials.  Made a horse trade of sorts this last fall and picked up a 300 bee, ran the factory 200 gr PTs over the chrony and was quite impressed. Much more playing on need with that one.

But when it's time for something to just be put in the freezer no fuss no muss , I reach for my late 70's BDL in 7MM RM and get Er done. It s almost become like a superstitious good luck charm now. Like someone else said " when I point it at something it just dies." Lol
I'm from the country , and I like it that way!!!
