Whole Nutha Leva !
« on: October 24, 2013, 11:11:01 AM »
Putting my money where my mouth took me, ended up with this POS following me home.  Just what I need something with a loading gate and an op rod.  Note the Lee crimp die for extra points junk needs junk to run I guess.  This abortion won’t be around for long I feel a sale coming on.

Can't even imagine the circumstances under which you would end up with one of those!
That fella really must have a lot of hate in him, to hold you to such a deal.

I'll give you $20.00 for it...

Hell of a thing, killing a deer. You take away all he's got, and all he's ever going to have.

Around 15 items changed hands in this deal with me taking the brunt of it.....Dry.

This is a perfect operatunity to show off my gunsmithing skills.  nothing like a cold blue and some Indian bead work to catch the eye of the unwashed.  I will even stick it in a plastic gun case from crappy tire and a leather sling half a foot wide with a deers head on it.  You and your 20 can get in line like I said whole nutha leva!

I can I say is, that if you ended up with that out of the deal, you indeed caught the fist, no lube.
Carve a deer face into the stock with a rusty old caster knife, and hammer some tacks into it. Its not like you'll diminish the "value".
Also, as another cruel joke, cold blue will not work on that receiver, as it is not "steel". See, it just keeps getting better!

No wonder Winchester has gone out of biz so many times 82 trick moves indeed…

Consider yourself kicked, square in the sack with a steel toed boot.
That recoil pad is sweet!!! The white line is always a classy touch.
Nice work there by some back yard bubba, not that it needed any help.
Best trick move Winchester ever made was manufacturing a rifle with a bolt, and actually selling them.
These latter day levers are just a sick joke.
Truly, some cold hearted SOB to include that POS in a trade. Did you at least get anything good out of the deal, or just the fist, dry?

jebus! I would tell a fella to go FHS, if he offered up a deal like that!
A Pard to boot? You really can pick your friends, you know, I wouldn't hesitate on making that cut.

At least you got some decent glass out of the deal, even if it will hurt to walk and poop for a while!

This isn't the same guy that can hit the stew at mile, is it?

Seriously?? That guy is an absolute legend!!! Wonder what he was doing with that POS? Must be one hell of a story behind it.
That dude invented real!!!
Crap. I hope he doesn't read all of the stuff I wrote...
Then again, I don't think he spends a whole lot of time on the internet.

Was that scope beat up a bit? Like its seen some action, or what?

Personally I love those old Winchester levers,, good old bush guns..

But then again,, I don't eat paper like some shooters do so I don't understand the hatred one might have for them.. They are what they are, a gun,, good in some hands crappy in others. I will garuntee you all one thing,, more game has died and ended up on supper tables at the end of those guns than will ever die in this country from the end of some spanked out fancy custom gun..

But hey,, they don't shoot paper all fancy like so who wants it eh..

I'd place a fairly large sum of money on that POS not being an "old Winchester".
I would also think that in this country, more game has been felled with a .303, than with a 30-30?

Just don't have much love for the latter day Winchesters...

Yah,, I don't know,, 30.30 or the .303 would be a split,, I would have to give the edge to the 30.30 in the north anyways..

The gun,, Winchester or Marlin what ever the case, my point being one would not buy a gun such as these to obtain a fine shooting gun nor a smooth as glass gun,, they are what they are, ruff old robust bush guns,, good for a certain type of hunter or hunt. I just don't see the the point in hacking up a gun it's a good old tool in the right hands.. Give me one of these old repeaters when I am up in my tree stand for bear in the spring over anything else out there,, no problem, or slung over the shoulder when just out and about in bear country just hanging out,, I love em..

When it comes to putting men in the ground and meat in the freezer 303 no question.

To me one of these cheaper winchesters is like Havin a sling on a shotgun never going to happen.  I do agree some of these old firearm designs were about as ergonomicly perfect as you can get MEN made them not machinens.
