Your best or proudest shot ever..

It doesn't have to be a kill shot on an animal.
It can be anything...A target...A wing shot..A cigarette out of your wifes mouth...Ok we don't recommend that one lol.
I have a few but they all happened when I was young.Must be the young eyes..lol
So many years ago when we lived on the farm my brother and I would go for a walk around and we always carried .22's with us.
One day we were walking in a back field when a flock of black birds was flying towards/by us and bro said "Bet you can't hit one on the wing"
Well I raised the old Marlin bolt action .22 rifle and sure as shucks I took the head off of a blackbird in mid flight..
My brothers eyes were wide open lol
Yup I'll never forget that shot..
I'm sure you guys have some stories about good shots and I'd love to hear about them..

Well we use to shoot our 22's off the garden rock, through the chicken wire fence and drive in a nail at 200 yards. Ok maybe that was Jed and the boy. I did though, and this might sound like a tall tale, shoot a black bear at 200 yards when it was on a dead run after one of our caves. It was about 3 yards away from it when I dropped him. An old 303 with peep sights. I was lucky cause I just up and shot with no thought of hitting it. And like you sonny, I had young man eyes then.

Good shot LA.. and I believe you..
Another good shot sort of maybe.
Long story short...was in grade nine and our history teacher arranged for us to shoot at the military range in Cedar Springs ont.
FN's (308) were on the menu and we shot @ 100 meters..200 meters and 300 meters.
Had a blast..
Final score for sonny was 78% kill...woohoo..I was in third place..

At one time I would say it was a long shot for an 18 year old I made with my 30-06 at 300 plus yards on a cow elk dropped it in its track. Now a days its any shot where I make a clean ethical kill I am doing allot of bow hunting so I spend allot of time practicing. This year was not great for harvesting animals but did take a bow and the shot was perfect through the heart 25 yards and dropped dead.

Not sure of it would be my proudest but most certainly one that stands out for me and a very unique shot.
20 some odd years back I was just getting my brother in law started in moose hunting, we were up in the Manning area on an Oct hunt. We were calling in a large buck brush and as it would be I called out a couple bulls. One small spike bull and a large that ended up being a 52" bull. There was also a cow with the bulls. My brother in law was a couple hundred yards from me closer to the animals, the small bull crossed in front of him by about 200 yards and was coming straight at me on a steady trot. I couldn't really see what was going on as the willows were a little high. I could hear the bull grunting and coming but couldn't see it. All of a sudden about 100 yards in front of me the small bull pops out, I reach down and grab my little .270 Remi pump and as I do so the bull sees me and turns and runs straight away. All I could see over the willows was the top of its neck and back of its head. So I take a crack at the back of its head. Wham the bull goes down. So I figure right on bull down. Mean while my brother in law starts to shoot I'm hollering at him I got him, he's like no the big one !! So I run over to him and the big bull is out about 500 yards across the willows, a couple shots from Glendle to get his range and he puts one through the boiler room with his 7 mag and the bull is down as well. Anyways lol, we go over to check the kills and after finding the little bull which wasn't all that easy in the thick willows we find it and of course I'm all proud of my shot and start looking for the bullet hole. To our surprise no hole to be found, none, well what the heck. We look and and look. After grabbing the horns to move the head around for a better look when I grabbed the horns I noticed they were loose the scull plate was broken. Then we see the bullet mark. I hit that little bull just above the base of his antler about 2" up on the left side and it busted his skull plate and that's what took that bull down. I guess it was enough to damage the brain and kill him cause well, he was a dandy eating bull as I recall.
Now that's a hunting story isn't it.

Walleyes, I beg to differ. Probably your best shot was from the breakfast table, knocking down a nice buck when you lived in Big Bay area, or so I was told!!!!!

One of the most memorable shots I have ever made was on a whitetail buck my buddy had shot and wounded.
This deer was moving at mach 5 across a clearing when he shot you could tell he wounded it as it reacted and slowed down a little but seemed far from fatal so just as it was entering the treeline at speed about 100 yrs away or so I let a hail Mary sail hoping to avoid a long tracking job.
At my shot he crumpled in his tracks.
When we get to the deer we can not find my bullet hole anywhere. Perplexed we begin field dressing the animal and that's when we discover I had fluked out big time and unintentionally made a absolute perfect texas heart shot right in the ummm bulleye if you will with next to no meat damage .

My buddy was with me when I shot a coyote in the neck at a measured 200 yards . He commented " that was the coolest thing I have ever seen". He does not get out much LOL
