Hi Wildman, Well it is my experience and I have owned them all! That the Humminbird just doest have the power that's needed for deeper and more precise target separation, the fancy middle depth gauge is nice and the muliticolors are a cool idea but they stuck way to much thought into the head unit and trying to make it a cool with the gadgetry that they forgot to put some R&R into the most important part..... The signal pick up, Humming bird uses a normal transducer pickup and Vexilar and Marcum use a special crystal anode and to go even further to prove why VEXILAR is the Giant in the industry they use a dual Crystal in there pick ups that is why Vexilar can boast such high RMS power and that Power is prominent even to depths of 300 feet let alone the superior accuracy to give you 1/4 inch target separation and now all this in a package with brushless technology? UNREAL!!! The Flx28 is going to be the machine! spend the extra bit of coin I promise you this unit and the people that back this unit is well worth it!, Did you know that VEXILAR is a FAMILY RUN BUSINESS!!! YEP! call them you can talk to anyone there and they help you on the spot and I know many incidences that they have sent out parts for nothing just to keep you fishing! WOW WOW! That's a business I want to support, I hope this help a bit, Trevor
