I am putting in for 21 draws.
Holy smokes...that's a whole lot of draws..We expect to see a lot of pics this fall..
I will be happy to draw goat, bison or 438 sheep but realistically Im kicking around antelope. (I'm not a southern hunter so this would be a huge learning curve) The rest will all get 999...camp wainwright, antlered mule deer, antlered moose, antlered elk, turkey.....heck I may even toss in for a doe draw. The wife is also building priority. If the sask draws ever come out I will put in for that too.
Generally I believe this is what happens. A guy who is not familiar with the south and antelope gets drawn and goes down there and get all excited at the first sight of them and shoots the first buck he believes to be legal. Then finds out that a just legal buck does not make for much of a wall mount and he is disappointed.I would recommend that a person apply for non-trophy as well as trophy antelope (and archery as well if you bow hunt). Likely you will draw a non-trophy permit first and that is where your learning curve begins. You can go on an antelope hunt and learn the lay of the land and get some permissions from land owners and see a lot of antelope. Be sure NOT to shoot the first doe you see. There is no pressure to kill one right away. You will get a chance to see a lot of antelope and some different bucks. Then when you do get a Trophy permit you will have some experienceAnd that there is great advice. Thanks for the input .
