2016 Bighorn Sheep
« on: September 21, 2015, 10:28:36 PM »
Hi guys, I know it's early but I read something I liked somewhere.
It said: if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail...

My big game hunting partners are not interested in hunting Bighorn sheep, so far, I went 3 different times and always on my own. I like the peacefulness but it's not really practical and safe.
I'm looking for a SERIOUS partner for next year!
I have ALL my own gear, a lot of experience hunting big games but like I've mentioned, I only went after sheep 3 times and never did connected on a legal ram, a banana head was the biggest I seen.
I'm looking for a crazy person, someone dedicated about hunting, someone who has his own gear and is in fair physical shape since I plan on backpacking in and out.
Anyway, if it ever spark your curiosity, you can contact me and we could discuss the details a little more.
Like I said, I'd like to have this hunt well planned out way before I head out to the mountains!
BTW, I'm a 45 years old man... If that makes any difference:)

I hope you find someone 1000 it sounds like you are into it thats for sure. Getting a little long on the tooth and out of shape to think about chasing those buggers up there. For me its the camping as well. I just cant see myself living in a pup tent on the side of a mountain fun lol.. I know lots of guys do and power to them just not for me.. When i was younger I had visions of taking a Ram and I still hope to some day but when the time comes i hope to have an outfitter look after the provisions and i will just be the hunter on that one.

But I respect your hunt thats for sure..

Well, I'm no spring chicken no more but at 45, I still have enough juice and will to do it for a few more years, if I'm granted the health of course.
I don't have the 30-50k's to go with an outfitter and plus, the rewards would be just that much greater if I do it
DIY...
I also fear that the day will come where it's going to be draw only even though I'm an Alberta resident.
I hope to keep trying until my body says it's enough!
I would much rather give up that way than have the government tell me I'm not entitled this hunting privilege anymore.

I wonder what it would cost as a resident to hire an outfitter or guide in our own province. It should be a lot cheaper no ?? Its not like you would use his tag just his services and equipment. I have to look into it some day. Just waiting until my boys are financially stable enough to join me.

Don't let 45 stop you. I'm 58 and did 8 day backpack hunt this fall.
