2017 Alberta Hunting Draws
« on: May 30, 2017, 03:52:21 PM »
The 2017 hunting draws are out, who's putting in for what this year? How are your priorities?

I am not sure what I am doing as I am going to be quite busy but think I am a P6 for moose, P6 for mulies, P9 for antelope.

Gonna 999 most of my stuff I think.

Will 999 everything for myself this year. Did my moose last year so I'll skip a couple. The oldest boy is priority 3 so we'll go in on his tag, it's a lock at that in our zone. Hope to make it down south for a Archery mule hunt it's still an over the counter tag where we hunt so won't have to burn a draw there. Getting to priority 7 on that draw and 9 on my cow elk so sooner or later going to cash those in.

I'll 999 most of mine, buddy has high priority for moose in our zone. Elk is general 3 point or better in our elk zone, and I'm low for cow there. Low also on mule in my zone. I'll spend the rest of my time going after Whitetails with my muzzle loader. And still trying to find that one bear that is just right. This fall I think life will slow down for me with lots of holiday time to burn, so I'm hoping to make my outfitter tent my home. Good luck with your draws this year guys.

999 for everything with the exception of moose trying for a couple new areas this year in 350 and 351. Don't know the area to well but from what I understand moose populations is pretty good and I have a friend who is going to show me around.  Other than that will be chasing Elk and Deer with general tags. Good luck all.

Going to sit on some high priority points until my son can catch up in a couple years as dad is getting old and he has put away the rifle as he feels he can't shoot successfully  :'(.   Too bad as he has some seriously high points on a few sought after tags. Need the province to allow more partner tags :)

Been 999 my son since he was 12, 19 now. Soon we can chase Antelope, Ant Elk & Mule Deer bucks together. Will try for some under subscribed moose draws for November.

Last season was all about re scouting old areas so we will be hunting some old haunts we found promising last year, all hunting will be with general tags this year and crown lands if I can't cash in on some possible farm/lease land leads. May have enough points now to do the last season of the base deer hunt.

Got to get that kid his first couple harvests still :)

I 999 everything except for bull elk. I have a priority 12 for bull elk, therefore, I should have a good chance of being selected.

Sonny where do you stand on your cow elk, if your high enough put in for 342. I still have a elk problem and the people at AEP just don't care. Takes about a 1/2 to fill tag.

Would they give you some landowners tags Coach?

Don't think the Wife or I will draw anything this year.  Had a blast with moose last year but back to the usual for fall.  Sheep, elk, whitetails.  Definitely hoping to put more time in for sheep this year than last.

No landowners tag in this zone. I had a few people that do not need tags come down after the season was over but that did not work out well.

Draws are in.
I should get my antlered moose tag this year.
According to the stats anyway.

Wife and I just did deer draws locally, I'm torn on my elk draw.  Going to think about it for another day.  P8 for bull and 1 for cow.
Don't want to do the suffield thing, won't have time in Sept, debating the Jan. outside the base draw but don't know;  kind of a crap shoot the area's I know.
Son's debating moose locally, not sure if he'll take the chance there or not.  He's got gobs of P and with that much I'm not giving ANY advice on where to use it.

Nope no moose draw this year for me.  Every year the priority goes up by a year now.  Way too much 999 priority out there.
I must have been unlucky on the percentage.  Last years stats for my draw showed it would have been 100% with my priority 4.  Not this year.
Pissed off!  >:(

The boy got his moose tag so we are set for that.
