a few pics from this season
« on: February 05, 2014, 04:29:27 PM »
Hi guys.  I gave up hunting this season and didn't do a whole lot.  I got back into trapping again and enjoyed the time I spent doing that.  I caught a bit of fure and had a great time.

I'd say you got back into trapping. Did you sell them yet, are furs worth anything these days?

Not really sure what they are selling for this year.  The fur market is unknown right now with all the arrests in China and the BS with China.  They were around 100$ a piece last year for yotes and I hope to get close to that this year but don't think it will happen.
I have had a massive ton of fun doing it guys.  Gave up my hunting season and went nuts snaring coyotes.  I quit when the snow got deep in December and I really didn't start again till last week and caught a few more.  I got 11yotes and 2 fox more done now in the garage and will get the pics later.  Got 289 muskrat so far as well and hope for another few hundred by the end of the season

Yes, you done well Nube. I never heard about that racket in China but your right it may effect prices.  I thought the Chinese were more interested in bear gallbladders but who knows. Well, I hope your paid well for your efforts, it sure looks like you were busy.

Some prices aren't doing to bad Nube.. Red fox is pretty good and I am surprised at the price of muskrat as well,, not bad at all. The yotes not doing so great but prices may come up by spring but may fall with the supply too who knows..

Not bad at all, I was surprised they were getting even that with all the anti BS that's around these days.

Muskrat is still pretty good your right.  I just caught 2 more fox this week and they are high as yote prices so it was a good catch.   I really hope for $75 average on my yotes but I think if I get $60 I should be happy.  I think I just broke the 60 mark for yote catches this week.  Good thing is I haven't seen any mange yet.  Lots of fleas though.  I have a goal of 300 rats this spring as well and think I can do it.

Well I finished pulling my coyote snares 2 weeks ago.
Final tally was
72 coyotes
7 foxes
3 weasel
11 beaver
289 muskrats

Going for another 300+ rats by the end of April and I think I can do it!!!!
Next years goal is 100+ coyotes.  I just need to find someone to skin them now lol

Got some more fur done up and just took it in to the Auction.  Also had a few people wanting some tanned fox and coyote so I took 5 yotes and 5 foxes in today to the Tannery.  I should have kept a couple for myself but maybe next year.

Badback, have you heard from the tannery about your coyote being done yet?
