A Short Scouting Session with the 9 year Old

It was a stellar weekend for me. Took my 9 year old out for some scouting and ended up taking a doe with him. It was his first kill to be on and it worked perfectly. A friend of mine introduced me to a landowner that wanted a few whitetails thinned out around their property and I happen to have a doe tag for the area so we went to check it out. There were quite a few deer around so we sat by some Hay bales to see where the deer were entering the field. Within a few minutes a doe entered the field right by the bales and gave me a 15 yard shot. She ran about a 100 yards before expiring and was a great first kill with my son!!

awesome! My son is 9 as well. He's been out hunting a few times with us. My daughter was there when my husband shot a muley doe a few years ago, I think she was only 5!
