Well with the cruel winter that we have encoutered this past year and the die offs that have occured I was wondering how many guys are gunna put in and how many will just be 999'ing this years goat draws.
Me I will be putting in reguardless, if I find the goat I want or if I dont see a single one ill be down south giving it a go.

You might as well. What is the point of waiting 4-6 years more and waiting for th enumbers and quality to go up. The winter didn't kill them all. They are migrating animals as well. If you work hard and put in your time you will still be able to find a good one.

Thats the way I look at it. Rather be down there looking at least than sitting at home. Not looking for hundreds of goats, just looking for 1.

Hopefully I get drawn with a BC buddy. Go get his first goat without the usual masses of hunters.
Non Tophy tags could be very rare this year.

justinc is coming down to hunt archery stinkers in september with me. overall numbers are down, but there are still plenty of em out there.
darcy, what zone you looking at. i will be claiming home field advantage this year to cut down on costs (148, 119, 116, 124). i saw a great big bugger yesterday though in 150. elkhunter11 is going to be heading for that zone so i was gonna give him a tip, but if you are going there, ill give you the heads up instead.

When does a pronghorn shed it's horns? Are they not growing right now?

I hunt 118/102. Been good to me and there are some toads down there. Got some pretty good info last year also from some locals after we helped them fight a grass fire so looking even more forward to my next tag down there.

I have been putting in together with my dad since 2004, hoping we can hunt together, he's not getting any younger he is 70 years old (I can't believe my dad is 70
). I talked to him about 999 but you know what, if lots of guys 999 this might be our year, I need to check our priority but I think it's fairly high, so I am putting in.

they shed in november. they are never totally bald like a deer. the new horn growing is what pushes the old one off. they start off not much bigger than the core, but by february they have prongs. i dont know how much more they will grow by hunting season though. common answers from others seem to say another inch or so in length from the base, but im not positive.

Wow they grow fast! So I guess by now they are pretty much full grown then eh? I have never read up much on them or seen them during the summer.

Based on previous draw stats, we should be a drawn for rifle antelope, unless they reduce allocations which requires more points per tag. If we draw it, we will find them, I have no doubt.
