If you like to whitetail hunt the non resident Canadian season in Saskatchewan, you better check out the following information.  You can only hunt in one specific zone that you draw for.   :(  I am not impressed with this new development.

You might not be impressed with it but I bet a lot of guys from Saskatchewan might liek the idea as it might limit non residents from comming over there a bit.

I totally understand, some areas get absolutely hammered with non res hunters.  It sucks though for me as the group I go with hunts several different zones all across the province.  They sometimes cover a lot of ground, and it is a hindrance for them if I am with and can only hunt one zone, especially if they are near the edges of a few different zones.  If some of them would get their bucks in the south, they can get another tag for the north zones, so we could still hunt together the last week.  Now I have to pick and stick to a zone, and depending on their scouting and farmer reports etc, it may not be the best choice for them for the last week of November.  It just kills a lot of flexability that I had been able to enjoy over the years.  I am still going to apply and see how things go for this year.

This will be my first year headed to Sask...lookin forward to it!!

I'm hoping I can find a decent buck and we've got a pretty good small group of us headed over there so the experience should be a lot of fun...

I agree Chris. I feel this is just a way to get rid of all of us from hunting there.I think we should do the same thing to them as I know a lot of people that come here every year. This hole draw on wt's in SASK is all about greed on there end.
You should probably get your facts straight before posting. This has nothing to do with getting rid of non residents. This is the first step in reducing the pressure along the forest fringe zones by spreading the non residents out across the province. I already can't just show up and hunt in Alberta. I need a host. This has nothing to do with greed. It is about protecting the resource. I think it is rather greedy on your part that you think you should be able to just show up and have free run at the deer in Sask.

You sound like a kid that was told he can't have a cookie. If you don't like non residents hunting in your province then that is something you should take up with your gov't, not whine about it on a forum. Just because your provinces fish&game management is total crap doesn't mean we should allow it to happen here. Nobody is trying to stop you from coming here. They are just spreading the non residents out so they don't all pile up along the forest fringe. Sounds to me like your just pissed that you can't hunt where ever you want. You fail to see past your viewpoint of "What I want" and see the bigger picture of a susatainable management program.

As a landowner in Saskatchewan I will have the right to limit residents and non residents hunting on my land. I don't remember deer needing passports to cross provincial boundaries. One thing I do know is if my sons (who are shareholders in our farm) can't hunt on their own land because of their current address. Then I will assume there are not enough deer to be hunted and Sask residents will not be welcome to hunt on our land either. They will then have to go pay a guide big dollars to hunt up north if a lot of landowners choose my option as a protest for the government telling me who can have the priviledge of hunting in southern sask.
