By the looks of it in the end no one wants to give in.. Personely I think a proper compramise would be the answer. Bowhunters may have to give up a few tags in order to acomadate those that choose to hunt another way or the rifle boys may have to give over a few,, thats life..

Personely it makes no differance to me in anyway they choose. I will just adjust as it needs to be adjusted..

If it makes no difference to you then just hunt with a crossbow during the general season.  I still hunt with my bow during the general season, its my preferred weapon.  There ia a primitive weapon WMU in the province as well if you wish to hunt with your Cross bow there.  There may be an oppurtunity in the future, in urban areas, where primitive weapons will be the only choice, not just the bowzones.

True story..

About 30 years ago I knew a bow hunter who hunted with a recurve bow,he was really good with it to but....

He said that compounds should be outlawed because with all those cables and wheels on them they weren;t REAL bows anyway..

So I guess no matter what happens you ain't gonna please everyone.

Bow hunters still argue over this one!!  LOL

I think it would be an awesome addition to the season,, I currently don't own a crossbow but have been looking at them as an option. If they made them part of the bow season I definetly would get into it..

What's your reasoning to only get into this if its in the bow season, why not get into it now during the regular season?

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Alberta Fish and Game Association request Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development include crossbows in all archery seasons.

The resolution for the AF&GA 2013 conference.

Our local club voted for this one tonight.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Alberta Fish and Game Association request that Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development develop separate draw licences for rifle and archery for all big game species currently on a draw.

Our club voted against this one this evening and our three delegates will vote that way at Conference.

Only two from all share holders get to go to the meeting. That is from all afga or any other of the stakeholders.  Second your local club is only a small potion of the pie. I know a lot of stakeholders are for it.  Also is a true way to manage herds.  A free for all is not.  Also esrd has already stated archery gets 15% of harvest.  Way it is bowhunters get 0% of any harvest how draws are.  So it has to go the other to give the % of harvest to were it belongs.

You seem to be under the impression that AGMAG is a group of much power to make changes with hunting rules.  AF&GA has I think much more power to influence Fish & Wildlife.

I am not sure where you get this idea that archers "get 15% of any harvest".

I have never heard that before.

In the past I have been told that when archers exceed (I thought it was) 10% of the harvest then they would no longer be allowed to hunt in that zone with a general licence but would have to apply for special licences.

I believe I know how it works and without AF&GA agmag would be small potatoes.

The AF&GA is the largest and oldest and most influential group of Alberta hunters and anglers.

For many many years they have developed resolutions and voted on them at conference.  Normally those that pass go to the government (or the group concerned) for their consideration.  And many many have been implemented.

SRD set up AGMAG so they would not have to have meetings with every group who wanted to have some say on the regulations or game management.  The AF&GA is still the most powerful and most listened to group.

:) Do yu always give up so easily?

The AF&GA past a resolution year after year after year asking for more Sunday hunting in the province.

And the province said NO! year after year after year.  But we did not say "that is the end of it , they will never change their mind".  Af&GA continued to request Sunday hunting.

And look at the regulations now!

There is no guaranty that the crossbow resolution will even pass at conference.  But if it does then it will be presented to Fish & Wildlife.

Did you actually read my last post?

The AF&GA past a resolution year after year after year asking for more Sunday hunting in the province.

And the province said NO! year after year after year.

So you see if they say no a few years ago to crossbows in the archery season, that does not mean.....(quoted from you)Crossbow topic is dead period. The province voted already a year ago. SRD has made it very clear that it is done as of when the provice voted and will not be talked about in the future.  The end.

"just means you were in the loosing vote."  You know I can't recall if I even "voted" on the crossbow question F&W had with the hunting survey?

If this were true the aba would have been all over it. I don't understand the reason for the huge push for crossbows other than laziness and poor coordination.

I can't understand the huge opposition (if it really is huge?) to crossbows?  Is it selfishness and eliteness?
