Elk Hunting
« on: September 25, 2012, 07:21:06 AM »
Thought I would start a thread on Elk hunting hopefully the sheep hunt guys don't hi jack this thread.

Anyway thinking about heading out to Edson area again this weekend to see what is going on out that way.  I haven’t heard much from any other guys up that way. Sounds like they were calling hard first bit of September and than dies off.  I was up that way a little late no calling at all. Saw one spike and a cow and that was it.  Any one else heading out or have any reports on what they have be experiencing this year?

Hey i can contribute something to this thread.....
I connected on my 2nd archery Elk kill a week ago. The Bulls were calling morning and evenings , we only used Cow talk and the silouette decoys were like a magnet once they came out of the bush...

One of my long time hunting pals that just got into archery last year as well took a small Bull and man was he pumped about this as were we.

Not a bad shot either...

This does not fall under Elk hunting but since i am on here , i also got my first Archery Deer kill 9 days before the Elk.

Cheers.

Got my first Archery Elk yesterday.  Been chasing elk for the last couple weekends and finally had one come in like he was on a string.  After seeing them feeding and setting up on them from about 120 yards, this bull reacted and was within archery range in just a few minutes.  After a 20 yard shot, he was on the ground.

Right on Rick...You're going to have to buy another freezer with all the meat you harvested this year...

Already on order!  At least I get to trophy hunt for whitetails in November now.  Basically out of tags until my whitetail trip at the end of November.
