Frustrating start to the day
« on: January 03, 2017, 10:03:55 AM »
Well after many years of what i call a great cell to me, the old BB Bold decided not to accept my password this am. A net search and 9 more carefully entered tries that did not compute and it wiped and erased all 200 + family and work contacts, pics and saved messages. Pics were transferred to the lap top already when the camera stopped working so the good kid ones etc are safe. I'm at work now and realizing just how much contact info i will need to search out and re enter. Might as well get that new cell now, seeing Telus has some good free ones. I hate replacing cell phones  >:(

Uggh.

It's amazing how much info we store on our phones and how much we rely on them. We run an I phone here at work and all of our contacts are on it, we don't even have a printed phone list any longer, not sure what would happen if this phone crapped out.

I feel your pain Sooner, good luck on the new phone man.

We run I phone's here to. They have everything on a back up system, even personal stuff like pictures and such. I have lost or destroyed a few phones through the years and they just load up the new phone. It would suck to have to go through all the work contacts I have, if lost.

I finally relented this past fall and got a cell phone.  YD insisted that I carry one for emergencies, as my health is not the greatest.  I still enjoy getting out in the country and the area bush, whether it be for hunting or taking pictures.  It is only used it for sending or receiving calls if there is some importance to them, not texting or emails(I refuse to learn how).  Only friends have the number.  Maybe I am too much "old school", but over the years I have found that they are not nearly as necessary as most people believe, unless it is business related.  When I see my son, dil and their kids sitting in the same room texting each other, rather than carrying on any meaningful interpersonal dialogue.  While I keep my opinion to myself, my patience runs extremely thin.

I hear ya UB. I need one for work, and I must admit it has been a handy tool with the GPS and camera. But I'm old enough to know that I lived 40 years with out one and it can be done. My kids are adults but still know when we get together we talk, not play on a phone.
