Gophers

Has anyone been seeing any gophers out down south yet ?
You can get a good look at a steak by sticking your head up a cows ass or you could just take the butchers word for it

Lots in the South west for a few weeks now. The ammo is a lot bigger concern than a shortage of grass rats.

They're are definitely plenty around nanton that are up and attem, took my friends boy out 2 weeks ago and he shot his first gopher, he was pretty stoked. Wish it didnt make it back down the hole so we could have got some pics.
Sorry I don't ice fish or hunt rabbits, but I did stay at a Holliday in express last night.

You don't have any Columbia ground squirrels there Sonny? Some around here call them "big reds"

See if you can line up a few shoots for us we have a friend that needs a lesson and big Jim wants to go.  The season is not that long mid-June it’s about over.

I don’t think you can shoot either Columbia  or marmets unless on privet land?

Marmots or rock rabbits(pikas) I have never shot.  I think they are mistaken regularly for Marmots.  Big Reds are like the Royal Elk of the ground squirrels! Way more energy and they don't stand around forever sunning themselves. Lots of them through out the S.W. You wont get as many because they are a lot more challenging. I think they are a lot smarter. Shoot and miss and they will head for parts unknown! lol
