Guiding
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:47:45 PM »
I'm 26 at the end of this year.
I grew up in the Yukon and office jobs and paper work over the last few years are starting to get old. I have hunted my whole life in the Yukon and Alberta. Two years ago I had a chance that I didn't take to guide in Northern BC. The position wasn't sexy (wrangler), but I passed it up for a Job where I could make more money. Big mistake!

Anyways I'll contacting Jamie again and asking if I can have another kick at the can, so I guess what I was wondering is... Does anyone on here have any leads for one of the hardest working guys in Calgary for a guiding outfit regardless of position?

thanks,
Adam

I hope the best to you HM. I know with determination it won't be long until you get a position and I am sure you will make an awesome guide.. As a younger man I often thought of doing the same and working my way to running my own spread. But the thought of turning hunting into work just kind of kept me away from it. Its always been my escape from work if a guy made it his work then where would you go ??

But for many they obviously enjoy it and I truly hope you do to,, its your dream,, go get it..

Recently I have been looking into maybe buying a hunting concetion and going for it,, we will see over the next few years what happens. I have 3 sons,, well 2 for sure that would absolutey be the happiest men in the world if they could be part of an operation,, we will see.

Hey HM, money isn't everything, so many of us are stuck in deadbeat jobs that we don't enjoy. Follow your heart and good luck to you!

Great guys to talk with. Had a good chat with Clay about their operation and how they like to run things! Their ideas were right up where mine are so im hoping it will be a good fit. Looks like minimum of 3 hunts next year and weve been in talks as well about my own personal Dall hunt in the not so distant future!!! Now just have to wait until the end of July to head up!!! Tons of new gear ordered and some cool stuff that ill be promoting for a couple distributors so hope that ill be able to have a few good reviews on some gear when I get back as well! Also if all goes well im going to try and get all of my season on video!! Should be good times!!
