How's the season going?
« on: November 17, 2020, 11:44:59 AM »
As always, when your work revolves around farm seasons, the harvest is the silliest and keeps me hoping chasing farm opps and claims. Mid Nov and only been out 1 1/2 days.

So this year my friends decided to open and clean up a farm property she inherited N of St Paul for future camping and just fun times. So we spent all summer cleaning 30 yrs of junk from waist high grass, cut said grass, built quad trails and an Outhouse. Camped along the way while we worked our tails off. This property has 2 farm field areas with a bush ridge separating them and surrounded by bush to the property lines. A big pond, hay and pasture fields surround it. This place is begging for a couple cabin type stands where you sit in comfort, heat and wait. Next summers project if my friends let me lol.

I have 5 cams out. from what I can tell the moose pass through but show up to rut. Major moose activity during this time and 4 different bulls on cam.

Deer numbers are good, a great age class from spikers to nice 5 pts that should be brutes one day. Scrapes galore when I was there last sunday and some super big. Lat sunday I only seen 1 small 5 pt but he was not leaving his 2 does who were feeding in the field. Nothing came to my rattling.

Back sunday for the day. probably take a couple days off next week.

Some pics and I hope your deer season is going good.

Sweet looking place Sooner. Looks like some decent animals around there but that’s no surprise as the area is known to hold good quality game.

I’ve enjoyed my season so far. As you all know we were successful on our moose hunt and have spent about 5 days this past week looking for whitetail. Seen a few but none that interested me. My son took a small meat buck last Friday. We took the grandson out for a day,  he’s been out with his dad quite a bit this year freezing his butt off so his dad wanted to reward him with a kill. So he filled his tag on a little buck more to just keep his boy interested in the game. The boy is only 7 but is hard core already.

I just spent the last 3 days out and about in my area and have seen a few but nothing that even slightly interested me. I’m going to spend a few nights in my stand on my own land and see. So far there is one thats been showing up that is a possible shooter, I will see what he looks like on the hoof if he comes out during shooting hours. The grandson is coming Friday to sit in the stand with me, we will see how it goes.

That is beautiful Walleyes.

Absolutely beautiful.

And I am sure grandma loves the visits as well. Do not forget her.

Thanks for the pictures Walleyes.

Just about finished cutting the 2 moose now.  Getting in some WT buck hunting in between.  We passed on a few smaller bucks so far.  The rut is on hard now and there a few real crankers running around in the country we hunt.  We have about 3 shooters identified now and hope to get a crack at them yet this season.

What if I told you there was a buck in our yard even bigger than this guy on trail cam.   That is enough to get me very motivated.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?
